Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 has granted players the opportunity to drive the iconic Battle Bus overhead. Here's how it works!
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2: Showdown features much of what you can expect in any new season. Those include new weapons, items, mechanics, and a Battle Pass. However, perhaps the most interesting addition is Epic Games allowing players to drive the iconic Fortnite Battle Bus overhead.
This has never happened in the game’s storied history, but it’s not exactly the easiest feat to accomplish. This article outlines how you can drive the Battle Bus in the new Fortnite season.
Can you drive the Battle Bus in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2?
Yes, you can, but it’s not as straightforward as it sounds. Unfortunately, it all comes down to luck as the game randomly selects one of the 100 players to pilot the Battle Bus. From there, the chosen player can literally dictate which path the Bus follows along its predetermined route.
Additionally, the driver can earn XP for the passengers and spawn a Supply Drop while driving through rings over the top of the Island. The gameplay video below via EveryDay FN showcases how this mechanic works:
Here is Epic Games’s explanation of this feature included in the new Fortnite season:
“This time YOU take the wheel. Every match one random player is chosen to drive the Battle Bus. If selected, steer through rings to grant everyone XP and spawn a Supply Drop at each ring’s coordinates,” it reads. “If you’re a passenger, don’t forget to thank your driver and tip them some extra XP! Tipping will show an emoji of your chosen Showdown team, so be generous with pride.”
Although your chance to drive the bus is 1 in 100, play enough and eventually you will earn this incredible opportunity.
How to be creative with this great power

As stated above, this is a historical moment in Fortnite history. Apart from a few cinematic events in the past and a drivable Battle Bus on the ground, players have never had such power. The best part is that you can steer the Battle Bus toward or away from your ideal Fortnite drop spot.
You can use this as a strategy to either coax players toward an area you’re more familiar with, allowing you to rack up easy eliminations. Transversely, you could bring them toward a specific location, then glide toward your desired point of interest (POI) to reduce traffic there.
There’s only so much you can do, but it will be interesting to see the clips and memes that emerge from this addition. Epic Games didn’t specify whether you will have the chance to drive the Battle Bus all season or not, so we will have to wait and see. Until then, there is plenty to enjoy about Chapter 7 Season 2, including weapons and an updated map!
