Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 is here, and the update map features a few notable changes alongside some returning POIs!

The latest Fortnite season has arrived with a map that may look mostly the same to those who played Season 1. However, there are a few subtle and not-so-subtle changes that are worth considering before you jump into the new player-driven Battle Pass. This article covers everything you need to know about the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 map!

Four changed locations in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2

First, it’s worth highlighting the points of interest (POIs) that have changed in the new season. Those include Frigid Fortress, Squibbly Shores, Dark Dominion, and New Sanctuary. Frigid Fortress is easily the Fortnite POI we consider the most appealing on the Chapter 7 Season 2 map. This was previously Clawsy Lodge last season.

You can find the new Ice King boss roaming this massive area, which is also rich with Chests and other loot. Anyone who chose Team Ice King in the new season can find The Foundation boss at New Sanctuary, previously Classified Canyon. This location is mostly the same, except for a few cosmetic differences.

Dark Dominion is the location you will find in the map’s center. It’s marginally different compared to the previous Innoloop Labs or Lethal Labs, and you can find the Dark Voyager boss here.

Lastly is Squibbly Shores, which is arguably the most different POI apart from Frigid Fortress. Previously called Bumpy Bay, Squibbly Shores is larger and offers a much more aesthetically pleasing environment.

  • Frigid Fortress (Previously Clawsy Lodge) – The Ice King’s castle looms over Polar Peak, surrounded by snowy terrain and patrolled by his guards.
  • Squibbly Shores (Previously Bumpy Bay) – A coastal landmark where Zero Point shards have created unusual water properties.
  • Dark Dominion (Previously Innoloop Labs/Lethal Labs) – Be wary of the reassembled Zero Point shard at Dark Voyager’s headquarters.
  • New Sanctuary (Previously Classified Canyon) – The Foundation’s high-tech base of operations holds a stockpile of loot for all those willing to join the fight.

All returning locations on the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 map

  • Wonkeeland
  • Latte Landing
  • Painted Palms
  • Sandy Strip
  • Fore Fields
  • Humble Hills
  • Ripped Tides
  • Sus Studios
  • Battlewood Boulevard

Are these good changes or bad changes?

Expectations going into a new season from a map perspective should always remain relatively low. The reality is that Epic Games rarely overhauls the map two seasons into a new Chapter. With that said, these changes are different enough to keep the game fresh.

We’ve seen some seasons in the past where the map is underwhelming, but the addition of basically four bosses across four new drop spots is enough to keep interest high. Ultimately, it’s far too soon to say whether these new spots are definitively good or bad.

It is worth asking why the new season didn’t feature any Looney Tunes-inspired POIs, but perhaps it wasn’t in the contract. However, our initial impressions overall are positive, and it will be interesting to see whether this map changes over the next few months.
