Fortnite has had enough. The popular video game has officially taken action against a cheater.
You heard it here first, folks. Epic Games is showing they mean business after a recent legal complaint was filed by the company against a player who cheated in one of their Fortnite tournaments. Here is everything we know and more.
Cheating has no place in Fortnite! Epic Games files legal complaint against cheater
Earlier today, Epic Games made a post online letting people know that they have officially taken legal action against the player, Araujo, who had been using third-party software and cheats in official Fortnite tournaments.
“We want Fortnite tournaments to be fun and fair for all competitors. People who cheat in tournaments to gain an unfair advantage ruin the experience for everyone. We are making fundamental changes to combat cheating in our tournaments, including taking legal action against players that break our rules,” said Brent Coyle, Competitive Director at Epic Games.
Araujo, who was caught cheating in various Fortnite tournaments and games, was using cheat softwares that allowed him to see other players through solid walls and aim directly at opponents without using any inputs.
“Epic does not tolerate cheating and has banned the use of cheat software in Fortnite. Cheat software in video games is any outside program or method used by someone to gain an unfair advantage over other, non-cheating players. In order to play Fortnite, Epic requires that players agree not to use cheats to ensure a level playing field.”
Araujo had been warned multiple times in the past, but has yet to heed Epic's warnings, forcing the company to take legal action.

Araujo is not just some one-time cheater who made a bad decision once and is now paying for it. No, the player has been cheating in Fortnite (and probably other games) for quite some time now, disregarding any of Epic Games's warnings.
“Despite efforts by Epic to stop Araujo from cheating by banning him, he continues to cheat in Fortnite tournaments by fraudulently creating new accounts in order to evade Epic’s bans," said Coyle. "This conduct undermines the integrity of the level playing field Epic has created and drives away non-cheating players.”
Well, it would seem as if Araujo is now going to have to pay the price (literally) for his actions. Let this be a warning to other players thinking about cheating in Fortnite or any other video game.
