The first Dreamhack Fortnite Cash Cup Extra is complete. We wrap the winners and high performers of both Europe and NAE. One NA trio in particular continued their reign of terror.
The first ever, DreamHack Cash Cup Extra, took place on April 15th, with DreamHack holding two separate events in North America East (NAE) and Europe (EU).
Jack "G2 Jahq" Downs, "1% Acorn", and "LG Slackes" stood as the clear favorites in NAE heading in. Their run of success challenges any stretch before it. The trio won back-to-back events earlier this week with the FaZe Clan Elite Cup and Trio Cash Cup. This comes after their Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) win last season. Currently, Jahq, Acorn, and Slackes remain the undisputed best trio in NAE.
In Europe, a newly formed trio, Jérémy "Grizi 4zr" Dang, Tai "Guild TaySon" Starčič, and Nathan" Grizi Nayte" Berquignol came into the event as the favorite. They won the first round of the Trio Cash Cup in spectacular fashion. The trio won five out of 8 matches. Additionally, 4zr, TaySon, and Nayte finished the event with the most overall eliminations and best average placement. The trio dominated their first official event together.
An Unlikely, yet Dominant Force Arises in Europe
TaySon, 4zr, and Nayte are all prominent names within Competitive Fortnite. Nayte and 4zr played together throughout the previous FNCS. Their third, TaySon, continues to succeed regardless of his teammates. He has won events with six different team combinations since the beginning of 2020.
Now, TaySon teams up with Nayte and 4zr for this competitive Fortnite season. All three players must communicate in a secondary language, English. Nayte and 4zr typically speak French, while TaySon naturally speaks Slovenian. The differences in language and history make this trio an unlikely combination.
The trio began playing together at the end of March for a third-party tournament. In just a few weeks, Nayte, 4zr, and TaySon quickly became a favorite to win Season 6 FNCS. On Monday, they won the Trio Cash Cup which qualified them for the DreamHack Cash Cup Extra.
EU DreamHack Fortnite Cash Cup Extra
In the DreamHack event, the trio stood alone in first place for most of the event. After a poor first match, the team roared back with a 17 elimination, 2nd place match. From that game on, they sat in the drivers seat. Only a single trio managed to challenge them for first place. Alex "Wave Vadeal", Noah "BL Noahreyli" Rey, and "rezon ay" took the lead with 30 minutes remaining. One final match determined the victor. Vadeal, Noahreyli and rezon ay finished with a 13 elimination 3rd place which gave them 690 total points. 4zr, TaySon, and Nayte would not be outdone. In their final match, the trio put up 19 eliminations and a 2nd place; their total - 760 points. An exciting ending to an outstanding event.

The Best Stretch in Fortnite History?
Jahq, Acorn, and Slackes draw few comparisons to the winners from Europe. The North American trio began playing together in September of 2020. They fell short of winning the previous FNCS with 5th place overall. Since February, the team has consistently placed on top. Most recently winning the first FNCS of 2021 and the FaZe Clan Elite Cup. Their string of victories is truly remarkable and mirrors, if not trumps, any that preceded it.
NAE DreamHack Cash Cup Extra
Unlike the European winners, Jahq, Acorn, and Slackes dominated from the start. The trio rocketed up the leaderboard with back to back 12 elimination victory royales. After that, the team protected their lead with consistent play throughout the next seven matches, including a 15 elimination victory royale in game four. Jahq, Acorn, and Slackes comfortably won the event with 652 total points, a 43 point lead over 2nd place.
Another top trio in North America, came roaring back after a poor start. Josh "Commandment" Roach, Evan "FaZe Cented" Barron, and Ben "NRG Edgey" Peterson stumbled out of the gate. They finished outside of the top ten in four out of five matches to start. In the next four matches, the trio finished in 5th place or better. They totalled 36 eliminations in the final four matches to reach 4th place overall. They capped their extraordinary comeback with a victory royale to finish with 579 total points.
