While having Guilty Gear Strive as the main title of the Arc World Tour is no surprise, as the game is an internal product of Arc System Works, the same status for GBVSR feels like a wonderful achievement. Arc System Works participates in the development of many other fighting games based on someone else's franchise, like DNF Duel or Dragon Ball FighterZ, but they don't make it to the official league.
GBVS Rising is based on a mobile multiplayer RPG Granblue Fantasy. It's super popular in Japan and was released for the West as Granblue Fantasy Relink in 2024 on PC and consoles.
The original fighting game is Granblue Fantasy Versus. The community considers it somewhat basic, without the usual Arc System Works depth. The developers rebooted the project and named the improved version Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. It's really good! The gameplay is as accessible as in the first release, featuring a simplified input scheme. But GBVS Rising also offers many new fighting options for advanced players, making it a great competitive title.
At Evo 2024, GBVSR has a Platinum Arc World Tour qualifier. This means more standing points for top placements and a direct invite to the Global Finals for the winner. There are only five such events in the Arc Word Tour 2024.

The Gold events may still be pretty big, like Combo Breaker or CEO.

Versusia in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
The first DLC character in the GBVS Rising Character Pass 2 is Versusia, which is playable at Evo.
Granblue Fantasy Versus at previous Evo events
It is the first Evo tournament for the Rising version, but the original game Granblue Fantasy Versus had its Evo champion: Gamera won Evo 2022.
In fact, Gamera won a GBVS Rising tournament at Evo as well. But that was a side event and for the beta version of the game in 2023.
