“Post Malone is the perfect voice to carry that passion and celebrate the beginning of an historic event.”

American rapper Post Malone will headline the opening ceremony of Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025). His performance will happen on July 10, kicking off the seven-week event focused on competitive gaming.

Post Malone to perform at Esports World Cup 2025

On June 20, the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) announced that Post Malone will perform in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The post also noted that Post Malone is a lifelong gamer, having streamed titles like Call of Duty: Warzone, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and Hunt: Showdown on Twitch.

Having collaborated with Apex Legends before, his upcoming performance aligns with his interest in gaming.

"Esports is becoming a global cultural force – where music, storytelling, and competition converge to create moments that are not just seen, but felt," Mike McCabe, the chief operating officer at the EWCF, said. "With Post Malone, a global artist and true gamer, opening the tournament, we continue to celebrate the power of music – a universal language that brings fans together and defines the cultural future of esports."

Ariel Horn, the EWCF's executive producer, shared McCabe's excitement. "It’s exciting and new," Horn said. "So many game genres converging on one global stage, the music fuels the competitive fire at the heart of this event and this industry, and Post Malone is the perfect voice to carry that passion and celebrate the beginning of an historic event."

2WEI creates music for Esports World Cup 2025

This announcement arrived in the wake of EWC Music's launch. The program started on April 27 with a four-track suite recorded at Abbey Road Studios by 2WEI and Hollywood Scoring. According to the EWCF, more artists and performances will be announced soon as well.

This is also one of many major announcements leading up to the EWC 2025 event itself. Earlier this week, the EWCF welcomed footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as a global ambassador.
