The EWC Foundation has just announced the upcoming international tournament, the Esports Nations Cup. Here’s everything we know so far.

Just like in football, players will now compete for their countries in the newly announced Esports Nations Cup. The Esports World Cup Foundation organizes the tournament, working alongside major gaming companies to co-develop it.

Esports Nations Cup

On Aug. 23, the EWC Foundation announced a new international tournament called Esports Nations Cup, where players will be representing their nations.

The inaugural Esports Nations Cup will be co-developed in collaboration with leading publishers and game companies. They will be Electronic Arts, Krafton, Tencent, and Ubisoft. These companies will contribute to designing their games’ national ranking systems, qualification pathways, and event formats, ensuring the tournament connects with fans and maintains the highest competitive standards.

The tournament will bring together national teams from every major region. North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Africa, Asia, Southeast Asia (SEA), and Oceania will all be competing across both team-based and solo-player formats.

The tournament will use a multi-tiered qualification system that balances competitiveness with inclusivity. It combines global rankings, regional qualifiers, and Wildcard entries, including solidarity spots, to create a diverse and representative competitive stage for every game. All participants will receive guaranteed prize money, with equal rewards across titles, ensuring fairness for every player.

The ENC makes this a reality for esports, giving every fan a flag to rally behind and every player the pride of representing their country. It’s a stage to create heroes, inspire the next generation, and, together with our partners and stakeholders, build the national ecosystems that will accelerate the growth of esports worldwide.

When will the tournament happen?

The Esports Nations Cup will take place every two years, debuting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in November 2026. Afterward, it will rotate hosts, bringing national esports teams directly to fans and cultures around the world.

The ENC is organized much like the Asian Games, a continental multi-sport event held every four years for Asian athletes. While the tournament’s official game lineup has not been announced, popular titles such as Apex Legends, PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege, and Honor of Kings could be included. We will share updates as soon as more information becomes available in the upcoming weeks.
