The popular anime, Tokyo Ghoul, is about to get its own movie. However, it is not exactly the movie you think it is.

If you are a fan of anime, you have probably at least heard of the popular series, Tokyo Ghoul. The show, which lasted three seasons, was a hit within the world of anime (except for the third season). And now, to many viewers' surprise, Tokyo Ghoul will be returning to the US for a theatrical movie.

"Sink Your Teeth: A Tokyo Ghoul Celebration" brings Ken Kaneki to the theater, and many are extremely excited. However, it is not the movie you may think it is.

Tokyo Ghoul movie to premiere in theaters for one day

The Tokyo Ghoul movie will only be premiering in theaters for one day, and that is July 21, 2025. This means you will have to run to the theaters quickly cause tickets are going to sell fast. The movie is two hours and 26 minutes long and will consist of episodes from the first season.

However, the movie will not have EVERY episode from season one, as it is a mix of a few specific episodes that get the story across. So, which episodes will be shown during Sink Your Teeth: A Tokyo Ghoul Celebration?

All episodes in Sink Your Teeth: A Tokyo Ghoul Celebration:

  • Episode 1
  • Episode 5
  • Episode 8
  • Episode 10
  • Episode 11
  • Episode 12

Below is the official description for the upcoming movie posted by Crunchyroll:

"6 select episodes from Season 1. Ken Kaneki is a loner. In a world where ghouls—human-like creatures who survive on human flesh—and people are at war, his biggest concern is which novel to pick up next. But when a date with the mysterious Rize turns deadly, a lifesaving operation horrifyingly transforms him into a human-ghoul hybrid.

Can he find his place in a society where it’s hunt or be hunted?"

Does this mean a reboot for the anime is in the works?

The biggest question fans have is whether or not this celebration is an easter egg for a Tokyo Ghoul reboot. It is no secret that many fans were incredibly upset with how the show ended, as season three was made by a different studio from the first two, excluding various aspects of the manga.

So, why is Tokyo Ghoul suddenly releasing a movie? The series ended years ago. There seems to be no point in making a movie celebrating the anime if an even bigger announcement is not in the future.

Hopefully, we will see an announcement regarding a remake of Tokyo Ghoul in the near future. Maybe it will show at the end of the movie, releasing on July 21.
