A remake of the classic Patrick Swayze film Road House is on its way with Jack Gyllenhaal doing the punching this time around.

The original Road House released in 1989. Starring Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliot, the former acts as James Dalton, a bouncer in a small town Missouri bar. If you're a fan, you'll be happy to hear that a modernized remake is on its way.

The remake features the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Connor McGregor, and Post Malone. Road House (2024) takes the general plot of the original films, but adjusts the characters, changes locations, and adds some more action.

Road House (2024) is directed by Doug Liman. Other directorial works of his include Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise and Jumper starring Hayden Christensen. His newest movie, that brings in the star of Jarhead and Donnie Darko, releases on March 21, 2024.

The distributor is Amazon MGM Studios. Which means it is an exclusive Prime Video production. If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch Road House (2024) the moment it arrives on Prime Video come March 21.

Story synopsis

Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a former UFC fighter in the middleweight division. He takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. Roadhouse is another term for a bar or tavern.

The bar is threatened by a group of individuals looking to own the land and build in its place. Knox (Connor McGregor) acts as the muscle, attempting to intimidate or eliminate Dalton.
