Until Dawn movie release
The Until Dawn movie, with the same name as the original game launched in 2015, is coming out in the U.S. on April 25. It's directed by David F. Sandberg, known for his productions of Annabelle: Creation in 2017 and Shazam! in 2019. As the screenwriter, we have Gary Dauberman, known from It from 2017 and The Nun from 2018. Both are well-known figures in the horror genre, and this adaptation of Until Dawn promises to bring a fresh take on the original storyline.

Until Dawn movie: Story and plot
"One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. They find themselves horrifically murdered, only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again - only each time, the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn," stated Screen Gems, a company under Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The production team took the premise of the game — where various choices lead to different outcomes and endings — but chose not to directly reveal the game’s storyline. David F. Sandberg said in an interview they would respect the source material but feature a new story and cast of characters separate from the original game.
So, if you were expecting the whole snowy and slash horror vibe with the wendigo mythology, then that's not going to happen in the Until Dawn movie. However, the wendigos will still appear as deathly monsters, so don't be too disappointed.

"Hollywood doesn't respect video games," another one added.
"I was at the movies and I saw the Until Dawn trailer and it still hurts. I think overall the movie is a cool concept, but I hate that they used the Until Dawn name and it's nothing like Until Dawn," another fan wrote, attaching pictures of the trailer going through in a movie theater.
Overall, the reception has been quite bad for a movie with such an interesting cast and production team. Many other fans referred to the movie as a recycling of the Happy Death Day movie released in 2017, where the main character kept dying and reborn the next day.
