After years of waiting, Lucasfilm has officially given fans a look at the upcoming Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, which will feature the two beloved characters whose presence stole the hearts of many over the course of three seasons.

While it is no secret that many recent Star Wars projects have bombed, especially after The Acolyte was cancelled after one season, The Mandalorian stood out with a highly successful three-season run. And now, fans are getting an official movie based on the famous character and his sidekick, Grogu.

So, when does The Mandalorian and Grogu officially hit theaters? Lucasfilm announced that the movie will release theatrically on May 22, 2026, and will be available to view in IMAX.

About The Mandalorian
The Mandalorian follows a lone bounty hunter and his sidekick, Grogu, who is a young baby that needs protecting due to him being the last of an ancient and powerful race. Played by Pedro Pascal, The Mandalorian finds himself in various trials, having to fight off enemies to keep the young child safe.

The show gives us a new look at the Star Wars universe, with famous characters such as Luke Skywalker returning. The first three seasons can be watched on Disney+ with a subscription to the streaming service.
