Don’t blame that one teammate that feeds all the time. It’s all part of the plan.

The DreamLeague Season 24 has entered its next phase and Tundra Esports is off to a great start. With a 2-0 victory over BetBoom, Tundra has raised its chances of qualifying for the playoffs, although it’s still a long road ahead.

Game 1 - Always difficult to go High Ground

Tundra had a double control lane in the top lane with Lion and Sand King. However, for BetBoom, with a Naga Sire in the laning phase, it was a much bigger advantage and they could simply go on the advantage right from the very start.

BetBoom had the advantage in the laning phase from the very start. Their strong lanes allowed them to gain a slight advantage over Tundra, but they couldn’t convert that to a big lead.

Around the 43-minute mark, BetBoom attempted to go for the high ground on the back lines. However, Storm went for the back lines, essentially dividing up the fight. Even with an Aegis, BetBoom lost the fight in a spectacular fashion.

That single team fight gave Tundra a massive Networth and XP lead. They were able to position themselves to a significant advantage over BetBoom and eventually finished the game with ease.

Tundra’s draft was the major motivating factor for the team to perform as well. The draft allowed them to scale into the late game. While BetBoom had an advantage in the laning phase, they were never able to capitalize on the same and move ahead in terms of XP or even net worth.

Game 2 - Saksa Feeding is all part of the plan

A donating Monkey King performance by Lorenof allowed Tundra to cruise through the second game after what was a very close Game 1. The mid lane allowed Monkey King to take a big lead over the Pango. He farmed his crucial items in the mid-lane barely venturing out to get ganks. Monkey King as a hero requires some items to be useful in the mid game and rightfully so, Lorenof focused on getting key items.

The other lanes were full of action as the two teams were almost always brawling against each other. With Medusa on the Radiant squad, Tundra were on a timer. They needed to make something happen when Monkey King had his items. It was also very difficult for BetBoom to catch Monkey King off-guard as the hero, along with key observer wards and as such, was as elusive as they get.

The 7 minute wisdom rune fight saw Saksa and Lorenof go to the top wisdom rune. The ensuing fight only claimed Saksa who was suddenly having a very bad early game. But Monkey King went the BKB early in the game and the lack of any deaths for Lorenof meant that they were able to snowball with their small lead in the early game.

Tundra were able to build on their lead until it became impossible for BetBoom to mount any time of comeback. While the rest of Tundra were farming and getting crucial items like BKB, Saksa was the only person feeding on the team. At one point, seven out of the eight deaths for Tundra belonged to Saksa’s Clockwork.

With this victory, Tundra Esports now top the leaderboard with a 2-0. The Group Stage 2 continues till November 7 and will see the teams play against each other over the next few days. The top two teams from Group Stage 2 advance to the Playoffs upper bracket. The next two teams will go to the lower bracket of the playoffs. Dota 2 fans can catch all the action live on Twitch.
