Team SMG adds iceiceice and poloson to round up its TI11 qualifier lineup

Team SMG officially welcomes its new offlaner and position 5, iceiceice and poloson. The 2 Singaporeans will make their debut with SMG at the upcoming Gamers Galaxy HatYai Invitational.

Team SMG returns back on Twitter after a long hiatus to make its new roster official. After parting ways with Ryan "Raging Potato" Qui and Johan "pieliedie" Åström, Team SMG dropped a comedic sketch to welcome two Singaporeans on board: Daryl "iceiceice" Koh and Wilson "poloson" Koh.

The addition of both these players is no surprise. Poloson has been spotted playing with Team SMG during the ESL One SEA Qualifiers. Meanwhile, iceiceice had just departed Team Secret and him playing for a Singaporean organization is a sensical narrative.

The new additions to the team finalize the lineup that will compete in the upcoming TI11 qualifiers. Here is the current full roster of Team SMG:

  • Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng
  • Kam "Moon" Boon Seng
  • Daryl "iceiceice" Koh
  • Tue "ah fu" Soon Chuan
  • Wilson "poloson" Koh
  • Yap "Kenchi" Chee Loong (Coach)

Team SMG is infamous for its constant roster shuffles throughout the year. In fact, it got caught in one of the biggest esports controversies last May when the team allegedly kicked pos 5, Michael "ninjaboogie" Ross Jr. due to his dying mother. Following the controversy, Team SMG's Twitter page became dormant and it only posted Dota 2 announcements on its Facebook page - until today.

New Team SMG will debut at the Gamers Galaxy HatYai Invitational

For eager fans that are excited to see the new Team SMG in action, don't worry because their debut is coming soon. Team SMG is invited to the 2nd edition of Gamers Galaxy Invitational which will be live in HatYai, Thailand on August 18-20. The event will see a full SEA lineup comprising the strongest regional competitors such as BOOM Esports, Talon Esports, and Fnatic.

Can Team SMG take down the region's favorites with this new lineup? Can they qualify for TI11 with the presence of iceiceice and poloson? Only time will tell.
