Team Aster withdraws from BetBoom Dacha after failing to qualify for TI12

Evil Geniuses will replace Team Aster at the live Playoffs of BetBoom Dacha.

BetBoom Dacha is facing another lineup shift to its $250K Dota 2 tournament. It is revealed that Team Aster pulled out from BetBoom Dacha just days after it failed to qualify for The International 2023 (TI12). Instead, Evil Geniuses will fill in the vacant slot and attend the live event in Yerevan, Armenia this coming September.

BetBoom Dacha is the continuation of BetBoom's tournament series. The organization will host notable teams from across the globe on September 10 to 16. The participants include three-time Major champion, Gaimin Gladiators, and CIS powerhouses like 9Pandas and BetBoom Team. You can find more info about BetBoom Dacha in our article below!

Team Aster is the second team to pull out from BetBoom Dacha

Initially, Team Spirit is among the invited teams in BetBoom Dacha. However, the Riyadh Masters champion also pulled out from the tournament, then replaced by TSM. Spirit didn't disclose a specific reason for their withdrawal.

Team Aster did the same after the TI12 China Qualifiers ended. Despite being one of the favorites in China, Team Aster suffered a shockingly early elimination. The team didn't announce its withdrawal on any social media platform. But the participant list on BetBoom Dacha's Liquipedia page has been updated and it is revealed that Evil Geniuses will instead take over Team Aster's slot.

Evil Geniuses has already confirmed its TI12 slot. The team will also meet its South American counterpart, beastcoast, in BetBoom Dacha.

What's next for Aster?

With Team Aster missing TI for the first time in two years, it seems like the team will likely make drastic shifts. There are rumors of Aster changing their lineup - perhaps with SumaiL returning back to the Western Europe region. Currently, Team Aster has no upcoming tournaments and will likely stay below the radar throughout the remainder of the season.
