Talon Esports’ W becomes the first Dota 2 player to reach 15K MMR, just 2 months after the previous milestone was broken.

The ceaseless MMR race sees a new player sprinting ahead! Malaysian offlaner, Chung "Ws" Wei Shen  - who is also the current offlaner for Talon Esports - has just reached the next MMR milestone, becoming the first 15K MMR player in the world.

19-year-old W sure lives up to his name as he posts the mind-blowing achievement on his Facebook account. He shared a screenshot of his 15,0007 MMR with a simple caption - "15k". Talon Esports and many other Dota 2 fans congratulated him for reaching the unprecedented milestone. He also goes by other names such as Shenorita and Ws`.

Talon Esports announced the huge achievement to fans, and the team manager, Brameasy, was content to celebrate the new milestone on his birthday. He shared a picture of W in front of his monitor that shows the glorious 15K MMR on his profile.

SEA takes the MMR lead with W's 15K MMR achievement

This achievement is massive but it was also pretty unexpected. The MMR race has been centered in Western Europe (WEU) for a while now. Cloud9's Alimzhan "watson" Islambekov reached the previous milestone to become the first 14K MMR player, just 2 months prior. After the 14K MMR gates opened, other WEU players, including Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf and Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko, quickly caught up to the race.

But W's 15K achievement now brings the spotlight back to the Southeast Asian region. Previously, Thai player Nuengnara "23" Teeramahanon was hailed as the MMR king who continuously reached new milestones. He was the first to reach 12K and 13K MMR - but a calibration mishap drastically dropped him far back from the race. Interestingly, when he broke those records, he was also playing under Talon Esports!

W is an up-and-rising player, who found his breakthrough with Talon Esports this year. The young player qualified for TI 2024 with the team and will make his International debut in Copenhagen, Denmark this September.

The MMR race continues. Who do we think will break the next milestone?
