PSG.LGD is definitely the more consistent team throughout the years and historically, the team has bagged more wins against Team Spirit. However, Spirit is known for their ability to adjust and they always deliver the most miraculous clutches. This series also marks the first showdown between both teams with different rosters. PSG.LGD now fields three new players and it unfortunately has to field a last-minute stand-in due to VISA issues for the Lima Major. Spirit, on the other hand, has a new midlaner.

This Group Stage matchup serves only for teams to collect points in a single round-robin. The more wins they grab, the better chances they'll have to advance to the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs and avoid elimination. In each group, the top 4 advances to the Upper Bracket, and the 5th-6th place go to the Lower Bracket. The bottom 3 face elimination.

The first game was a dominant show for Team Spirit. The EEU team drafted a Morphling for Yatoro and paired him up with strong meta heroes like Riki on Mira and Nature's Prophet on Collapse. The early game leaned in favor of PSG.LGD but once Spirit hit their item timings, they were unstoppable.

In game two, PSG.LGD hits back with a nasty Naga Siren and Disruptor combo. This duo has a difficult combo to execute but it is a high-risk and high-reward pick. Team Spirit had strong control of the map and they even managed to break PSG.LGD's highground first. However, a beautiful Naga Siren song set up for a game-winning Aghanim's Scepter Static Storm and immediately, PSG.LGD was on top of the game.
