January 24 will see the first major Dota 2 tournament of 2025, with the full roster of teams involved now confirmed for FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1.
It has already been a month since we were last treated to some professional Dota 2 action, with ESL One Bangkok ending in mid-December 2024. The new year is about to bring us our first taste of Dota 2 action, apart from qualifiers, with FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 right around the corner.
Today, with fans waiting patiently, the teams heading to Belgrade have been finalized, and the players are set to take on the first tournament of the new year.

FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 sets the Dota 2 stage
Although the regional qualifiers for FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 took place in December 2024, today we learned of the remaining teams joining the event. Five teams originally secured their spot in the event: Wildcard, Talon Esports, Yakult Brothers, Chimera Esports, and AVULUS.
These five teams were joined by 11 directly invited teams. The 16 teams will begin their journey in an attempt to become champions of FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 on January 24.

While the Group Stage for FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 is set to begin on January 24, the Sava Centar in Belgrade, Serbia, will play host to fans from January 31. This will be the beginning of the grand finals weekend, where a champion will be crowned on February 2, 2025.
The winning team will claim their share of the $1,000,000 prize pool – and be crowned the victor at the first major Dota 2 tournament of the year. With many new faces and roster changes during the break, FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 is winding up to set the perfect stage for the 2025 Dota 2 year.
