M80 is doing exactly as VP of Esports Don “Syyko” Muir said they would — fielding a competitive roster for NA Counter-Strike.

M80 has taken advantage of every opportunity to become a standout esports organization in 2023. They performed in Rocket League, are playing for big money with their Rainbow Six squad at Gamers8, and were runners up in VCT Americas Ascension for VALORANT. Now, M80 is home to an NA Counter-Strike roster with CS2 on the horizon.

Former VALORANT pro dephh to coach M80 Counter-Strike team

M80 recently named Don "Syyko" Muir, former VALORANT coach of XSET and Sentinels, their VP of Esports. He stated one of his first actions in that position would be to field a world-class Counter-Strike roster for the org. That promise has been kept, and they'll have a chance prove their world-class status come CS2.

Bookending the announcement is someone Syyko is very familiar with. Rory "dephh" Jackson is a former CS:GO star on Complexity. When he made the switch to VALORANT, he was a prominent IGL for both XSET and Sentinels under Syyko.

He exited the Sentinels roster in May, during their VCT Americas regular reason run. No one has to wonder what he'll be up to next. Its confirmed he'll take on the head coaching role for the brand-new M80 Counter-Strike division.

A look at the roster

The M80 Counter-Strike team will be:

  • Michael "Swisher" Schmid
  • Ethan "reck" Serrano
  • Adam "WolfY" Andersson
  • Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa
  • Marcus "maNkz" Kjeldsen

This is a group of established pros, with the majority of them having just played together on ATK. With the ATK roster entering free agency at the start of July, Swisher, reck, and WolfY now find themselves on the Bomb Squad.

When it comes to malbsMd and maNkz, they exited LOS + oNe and ECSTATIC respectively. The rifler and the in-game leader will slide in to the former ATK trio and complete the starting five of M80 Counter-Strike.
