What happened during Vitality vs Cloud9?

Inferno

Cloud9 started with a pistol-round win and followed it up with two more victories. However, once Vitality got weapons in their hands, things seemed to be going in their favor. Spinx stepped up massively throughout the game, both in the first half and later in the second half as well.

Despite the turn of events, the first half was relatively even at 6-6. In the second half, Vitality had the complete read on Cloud9's defense. Ax1le and electronic were impressive, however, the team was not able to pick up on their efforts. Vitality ran through in the second half and won the first map to take a lead in the series.

Anubis

The second map was Cloud9's map of choice and expectations were higher on this map. However, Vitality continued its momentum from the first map and stole the show throughout the first half of the second map.

Cloud9's defense faltered throughout their entire defense. The CIS roster managed only two rounds plundering to a 2-10 first half. After this it was only a matter of when Vitality would seal the deal on Anubis.

Flamez was the star on Vitality managing to score 19 frags en route to victory. With this victory, Vitality are through to the semifinals and only two matches away from a Major victory - again.

What can we expect from this match?

Cloud9 is one of the few teams that has made its way through the opening stage into the elimination stage. After surpassing the rest in the elimination stage, Cloud9 remains in excellent form and in the playoffs. The team has lost only one series through its last six matches, highlighting their performance and excellent momentum. The biggest question now is whether they can continue this momentum to see them through to the playoffs.

For many Cloud9 fans, this is the best roster that can help them reach the Grand Finals of a Major once again. After winning versus FaZe Clan, albeit with a completely different roster, C9 has struggled to find the same form and results. This version of Cloud9 has the synergy and the firepower required to ensure they can put up a show.

Their opponents for this series, however, are no walkovers. Team Vitality are the current Major defenders, having won the BLAST.tv Paris Major last year. The team has superstar names on its roster, although the team has had a few roster changes since then. So far at the Major, Vitality lost to Eternal Fire but won their matches against G2 esports, NAVI, and The MongolZ.

Regardless of the outcomes, this series will be an extremely competitive one with both teams peaking at the right moment. It will come down to the map picks with Vertigo for Vitality and Ancient for Cloud9 being key map picks. We can also expect to see Anubis in the series as both teams are extremely comfortable with the map.
