FaZe vs Vitality: BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2024 Quarterfinals

Two teams were eliminated, and six remain. BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2024 moves into the playoffs stage at the Wembley Arena with a match between FaZe and Vitality. First up, we've got home boy William "mezii" Merriman taking on FaZe Clan. FaZe's streak of finals is over, but they still remain competitive. Meanwhile, Vitality is building its own momentum. Who'll step through to the semis?

Both squads have stumbled in the groups against unlikely opponents. FaZe Clan got the easiest matchup of the event, going up against SAW. That qualified them for the playoffs, and a showdown in the upper bracket against NaVi should have locked in a semifinal appearance. However, FaZe got outclassed right out of the gates with a 5-13 beating on Dust2. And after a bounce-back on Nuke, they looked set to win with a 7-0 lead on Mirage. But NaVi scraped their way back and took the top 4. Much like the Major, that's a disappointment for FaZe.

Over on the Vitality side, the team went from almost a 2-0 win over Virtus.Pro to what looked like a clear choke on Anubis. The win over an out-of-practice Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov returning to G2 does not give us much more confidence. Still, they have Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, Lotan "Spinx" Giladi, and Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, so that alone should keep them competitive. Maybe with mezii's crowd boost, they can take it over the line?

apEX started proceedings for Vitality with a beautiful USP triple to shut down FaZe's A site attack. Rounds went back and forth, but ZywOo's scout sang to keep Vitality's economy high. FaZe took a key round on B and then followed it up with an A-site attack. Despite ZywOo's heroics, FaZe killed all 5 to go 3-4. Momentum was now on the FaZe side, with the Karrigan-led squad going on fire. Vitality's defense was not finding anything to stop FaZe from taking 8 in the half.

Moving over to their CT side, FaZe continued the momentum, sprinting towards 13. Even when Vitality got into positions, ropz came in with a spray down to take the 11th anyways. Aggression was the name of the game, as FaZe took every inch of space. Blink, and you miss it; FaZe was on 13.

Spinx started off with another CT pistol for Vitality. And a rare karrigan scout cracked open his skull in round 2. Even with a B site opener on top, FaZe couldn't win as apEX managed to deny the plant. The Israeli superstar was looking sharp, with clean headshots regularly leaving his M4. ZywOo had a quick triple to lock round 4, and cleaned up another after that. Faze was just throwing stuff on the wall and seeing what stuck. And on Dust2, nothing was quite sticking just yet.

ropz finally cracked the code with a beautiful response to Spinx's spray. That started FaZe off and allowed them to build back in. With ropz leading the way, they quickly got 4 rounds on the board. apEX scout made life a bit difficult, but broky's bigger sniper kept FaZe in control. The half closed out with Vitality barely keeping the lead 7-5.

Vitality's second pistol win allowed them to get to 9. But a perfectly sprung trap on long gave FaZe their prey. Back and forth, the two teams went again. rain was putting up unbreakable walls on A, keeping it out of Vitality's hand time and time again. FaZe was soon nipping on the heels of Vitality. But the bees kept their lead going with a mid-to-B.

Low economy, weak weapons, everything was stacked against Vitality, but homeboy mezii entered into the B site to secure matchpoint. apEX jumped the gun, but flameZ bailed them out and mezii closed the map.

The knife round set Vitality up on the T side. The apEX-led squad brought out a classic A smoke execute to win yet another pistol. Vitality was on yet another early lead. The closer rounds began sooner this time, with FaZe managing a 3-4 score thanks to Frozen.

flameZ finally shut down their roll, opening and closing the 8th round. FlameZ was absolutely on fire, melting down frozen’s performance. Vitality took a massive 9-3 lead at half-time.

FaZe Clan were on their tones in the second half, pulling off a 2v5 through ropz and rain. ZywOo’s deagle nearly pulled out another miracle, but karrigan denied it to secure his team 5. flameZ & mezii vs frozen & ropz in a 2v2, and flameZ once more won out to get Vitality double digits. And FaZe had nothing left in the tank, as Vitality took the win.

Vitality is now set up against Team Spirit in the Semi-Finals. Danil "donk" Kryshkovets on a heater, Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov and Myroslav "zont1x" Plakhotja are right there with him, and Spirit looks like they are about to smash through another event. Considering what flameZ had to do to win this one, Spirit will be a tough opponent to overcome.
