In a back-and-forth grand final, Vitality defeated Falcons. Individual mastery and team tactics were mind-blowing: for both teams.

The culmination of the CS2 BLAST Rivals Season 1 was everything CS2 esports fans could ask for. We witnessed intensely close rounds, lots of amazing moments, and a historic achievement for the winning team. The crowd’s emotions were still missing — we’ll wait for them at the next tournament, where Vitality may make their win streak even more impressive.

In the battle for the BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 trophy, Vitality still lost one streak: their win series on Inferno. The team and the fans sure can take this hit! They managed to win on Dust 2, one of the best maps for Falcons. And they sealed the deal with Train and shaky but still impressive Nuke.

Falcons proved to be a great CS2 team as well. Their Mirage was such a dominance: at least its biggest part. Both teams had ups and downs in their five-game match, but for Falcons this instability felt more tangible.

Here are some details you could miss about the BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 grand final: Falcons vs Vitality.

“We played so good and so bad at the same time. On some maps, like Mirage [...], we had a good plan, and then we couldn’t follow the plan, so we made another one. Inferno was like we were sleeping on Inferno. And the other three, we played super well. Winning on Nuke again feels good.”

“We are really hungry about winning. We know this kind of team maybe happens once in a lifetime. I think since Katowice, I tell the guys let’s try to win every tournament we can. Because, we’re here anyway. Why would we waste our time?”

apEX | Team Vitality

“It sucks. We didn’t play our best today, and everyone in the team could kind of feel it. We tried to stay in the game as much as we could and not get frustrated. I think we did it quite well towards the end but we still lost it. And they played really well.”

Map 1: Inferno, Vitality pick — This streak is over

  • FLC 13:9 VIT

Falcons started this map great, and they kept this level till the end.

Inferno was the best pick for Vitality, as their winning streak was almost as long as their match-winning series. However, they couldn’t keep the pace this time.

We witnessed some classic ZyWoo moments, like terrifying dominance in round 6. But we also saw some uncharacteristic mistakes: for example, when ZyWoo was caught off-guard on B side.

Team Vitality still managed to finish the first half with 6:6. Moving to the CT side did not go well for them.

Team Falcons proved their individual skills and team synergy. An excellent fake call about rotation on A helped them reach the map point: as an example.

Map 2: Dust 2, Falcons pick — Vitality is swinging back

FLC 6:13 VIT

Before this match, Team Falcons won eight Dust 2 games: against big opponents, including Vitality. The map could be tough for the French org — and it was, but Team Vitality still won it.

The general impression is that it was a last-man and last-moment game, like a knife kill in the smoke by Vitality to stop the defuse in round 17. At this and other moments, Vitality pulled out some crazy shots and decisions. ZyWoo demonstrated his class more than once to bring his team this victory.

The teams went for the mid-game break with 3:9 in favor of Vitality, and then Falcons just did not have it to hope for a comeback.

Map 3: Train, Vitality pick — Sneaking into the match point

  • FLC 6:13 VIT

It was anyone's game, as Train is the hardest map to make any prediction with these teams.

This time, it felt like both Falcons and Vitality relied on round-to-round tactics more than on crazy individual moments. A notable example of this is when Vitality won one of the rounds with flameZ sneaking into B unnoticed in the first seconds of a round. They repeated it one more time, and then Falcons found a counter-attack for this.

Team actions looked a crucial factor throughout the entire game. Both did it pretty well: they went for a break with 5:7 in favor of Team Vitality.

In the second half, the T side went bad for the Falcons. They won one round, but in the rest, they consistently were left in the minority — for Vitality to win six rounds in a row and reach the match point.

Map 4: Mirage, Falcons pick — Domination periods

  • FLC 16:14 VIT

At some point, it looked like nothing could stop Falcons on this map. On the T side, they looked strong, destroyed the economy of Vitality, and did not give their opponents much chance for recovery. The teams finished the first half with 9:3.

Then, the CT side looked like a blast for Falcons. They reached the match point, with Vitality having only 3. Pulling up an overtime in this situation? It’s not impossible for the #1 CS2 team in the world! Winning this? That was too much even for Vitality.

Team Falcons demonstrated an extremely shaky play, but they still managed to take the CS2 BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 grand final to the decisive map.

Map 5: Nuke, decider — #1 in CS2 esports

  • FLC 8:13 VIT

This time, Vitality earned an early advantage, and Falcons tried to catch up. This was a script for both halves.

Vitality finished their CT side with 5:7. Then, they almost reached the match point, but Falcons responded with a series of great rounds.

When a comeback looked pretty real, Vitality recovered to win two rounds, the match, and the tournament.
