How many missions need to be beaten to complete the MW2 campaign? There are well over a dozen with varying objectives and tasks.
Call of Duty always breaks up its campaigns into different missions. So, how many missions are in the MW2 campaign? There are a total of 17 that deal with all-out assaults, stealth operations, and even vehicle combat.
From start to finish, you’ll be pit against tough enemies across several locations in the world. Completing missions earns rewards and they can be replayed at any time on any difficulty. As well, it should not take you too long to complete the entirety of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign.

All missions in the MW2 campaign
There are no secret missions to unlock or find throughout the story. The 17 campaign missions in MW2 are how many you need to beat to finish the whole thing. Movie-quality cutscenes and breathtaking action fill these missions as Soap, Ghost, Gaz, Price, and others look to stop a new terroristic threat from wreaking global havoc.
Strike
- In-game description: On a recon mission in Al Mazrah, Ghost, Shepherd, Laswell and Shadow Co take out a high value target.
Kill or Capture
- In-game description: Ghost and Soap lead the MARSOC marines on a mission to kill or capture terrorist leader Major Hassan Zyani.
Wetwork
- In-game description: With Laswell’s help, Price and Gaz pursue an AQ cell in Amsterdam and discover an unholy alliance.
Tradecraft
- In-game description: In Amsterdam, Gaz, Price and Laswell use CIA tactics to roll up an HVT in broad daylight.
Borderline
- In-game description: Laswell tasks Alejandro to stop Hassan from crossing the border.
Cartel Protection
- In-game description: Ghost, Soup, Rudy and Alejandro’s Los Vaqueros pursue Hassan under the cartel’s protection. Mexican Army troops in the pocket of the cartel intervene.
