There are 16 total teams competing in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at the Esports World cup. They've divided into four groups, with some familiar faces receiving direct invites and others having to qualify for the event.

Tournament schedule

Week 7 of the Esports World Cup is where you'll find the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 action. It takes place alongside other games, such as Starcraft II and EA Sports FC 24.

Take a look at the following dates, to see when each stage happens and what time the show starts:

  • Group Stage: August 15 at 5 a.m. PT
  • Group Stage: August 16 at 7 a.m. PT
  • Quarterfinals: August 17 at 7 a.m. PT
  • Semifinals: August 18 at 7 a.m. PT
  • Grand Final: August 18 at 10:30 a.m. PT

Format for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at the Esports World Cup

As seen with the teams and the tournament schedule, things start with a Group Stage. Teams will play to get out of their groups with two victories, then move on to the playoff bracket where they'll hope to reach the Grand Final.

Each match is a best-of-five series with the Grand Final moving up to a best-of-seven. The following are how the games play out:

  • Game 1: Hardpoint
  • Game 2: Search and Destroy
  • Game 3: Control
  • Game 4: Hardpoint
  • Game 5: Search and Destroy
  • Game 6: Control (Grand Final Only)
  • Game 7: Search and Destroy (Grand Final Only)

And here are the available maps for each mode, with a pick and ban process in place:
