GRID has acquired the assets of Bayes Esports to strengthen the former’s esports betting vertical GRID Bet.
Esports data provider GRID has acquired competitor Bayes Esports after the latter's liquidation. This union bolsters GRID's newly released betting vertical GRID Bet.
GRID acquires Bayes Esports
According to a press release, GRID has acquired Bayes Esports' intellectual property assets and will integrate them into GRID Bet. The Berlin-based esports data firm Bayes Esports filed for insolvency last August. No reason for their debt-distressed situation was explicitly stated, but their loss of the Esports World Cup Foundation data contract may have been a big factor. This massive contract instead went to their then-competitor GRID Esports back in June.
Bayes also lost ESL FACEIT Group to GRID earlier this year, depriving them of events like the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) and ESL Pro League.
Following this acquisition, the Bayes Esports official website now links to GRID's.
The strategic technology components that Bayes has developed over its operations for almost a decade will be integrated into the GRID Data Platform. This includes live data trading solutions, prediction models, and fan engagement tools. GRID Bet will be the main beneficiary of these technologies to further the firm's efforts toward a comprehensive solution for regulated esports betting. Patrons can now have higher expectations for GRID Bet with this acquisition.
“The acquisition of Bayes assets further accelerates GRIDs capabilities to create value for rights holders in esports and shape the next phase of esports betting in particular,” said Moritz Maurer, Founder & CEO of GRID.
GRID revealed its esports betting vertical, GRID Bet, earlier this month. They intend to leverage their ongoing deals with esports giants like Riot Games, ESL FACEIT Group, and BLAST for a wide market coverage. Their exclusive partnerships with these entities give them access to the most bet-on esports titles: League of Legends, VALORANT, Counter-Strike 2, and Dota 2. More about GRID Bet can be expected in October.
