The launch date of Assassin's Creed Shadows draws near, and ahead of the release, some voice actors have been sharing details about their involvement in the game. One particular voice actor is Mackenyu, who is the voice of Gennojo! Here's what he had to say about this role and more.

Mackenyu, a Japanese actor, is the voice of Gennojo in Assassin's Creed Shadows. He voices the character in both English and Japanese. In an interview, he described the character as "complex, a little reckless, very charming and has swagger." He also revealed that he and his friends used to play Assassin's Creed together while they were in middle school.

"When I heard the game was set in Japan, I immediately wanted to be part of it," Mackenyu added in the interview with Crunchyroll. The interview then went into Mackenyu's role as Zoro in the One Piece live-action series. Mackenyu shared that his favorite anime include One Piece itself, Hunter x Hunter, and Bleach. However, he's only watching One Piece at the moment.

At the time of publishing this article, we know that in Assassin's Creed Shadows, Gennojo is a charming character who can be recruited into the Shinobi League by either Fujibayashi Naoe or Yasuke. He appears to have an interest in Naoe as well. Gennojo likes that Naoe challenges him.

In a video posted by Ubisoft, Mackenyu described Gennojo as "a thief, a troublemaker who robs the rich and powerful and sleeps with everyone." However, despite Gennojo's playboy vibe, he has a broken heart and is susceptible to drinking too much sake.

Mackenyu then told Variety that Gennojo is a key character who helps the protagonists "track and eliminate their targets."
