An exclusive interview with iiTzTimmy about Red Bull Legends Inn, what it means to make his parents proud, and more.

Headlined by Timothy "iiTzTimmy" An and Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen, the first-ever Red Bull Legends Inn final kicks off on Nov. 8 at The Godfrey Hotel in Chicago, IL. Ahead of the esports action, we sat down with iiTzTimmy for an exclusive interview about Red Bull Legends Inn, what it means to him, and more.

"[My dad got] open heart surgery, and he always watches my games when he's at work. But more recently, because he can't leave the house, he just has nothing else to do other than watching K-dramas or just shows. So he's always watching my scrims, he's always watching my tournaments, and I know he'll be watching [Red Bull Legends Inn], and I'm sure he'll be very excited to see me play with Hal because he also loves Hal."

iiTzTimmy interview at Red Bull Legends Inn

Red Bull Legends Inn is an Apex Legends esports event featuring duos duking it out in nine rounds for the lion's share of the $25,000 USD prize pool. As its name suggests, this tournament is made possible by Red Bull Gaming. Both iiTzTimmy and ImperialHal were also key in making it all happen. In his interview with esports.gg, iiTzTimmy also revealed that they both worked alongside Dave “Walshy” Walsh to fine-tune the details.

"We just have a very mutual respect to each other because we understand the grind of streaming, competing, and just growing your brand," iiTzTimmy said, referring to ImperialHal. "We didn't actually talk a lot back and forth individually, but we talked through Walshy and we gave our inputs back and forth. He'll be like, 'Oh, Hal said this. What are your thoughts?' And I'm like, 'Oh, I think that's good, and I also think we should've done this.'"

He continued, adding that they all fine-tuned the details in terms of the format, the computer setups needed for professional players to compete at the highest level, and more. The player also acknowledged how Red Bull Gaming made even the little things count — from the customized soap bars, shampoo and conditioner sets, sleep masks, bathrobes, shoes, and even Caustic door stoppers.

"I've been a part of Red Bull for about two years now, and I think just outside of all the extra stuff they do, I think Red Bull does a really good job of taking care of their athletes and people they work with. I have never felt like, 'Wow, this was not done properly.' They've always treated me well, they've always [given] me more than I expected. It's just a really good feeling to be taken care of because you would think a sponsor takes care of you, but they just go extra and beyond that. And not all sponsors do that."

Red Bull Legends Inn teams and venue highlights

Whenever a duo gets eliminated at Red Bull Legends Inn, the lights in their gaming room turn red. This is possible due to a camera that's positioned across the street from the venue.

"At first, I was kind of like, 'I don't think that would be that cool,'" iiTzTimmy said, referring to the lights feature. "But then [I saw it] from the outside. They're gonna have the whole production filming it as you're watching the livestream." In-person attendees can also just look up and see this happen.

"I enjoy talking to other fellow players and creators," iiTzTimmy added. "So I think just the fact that hosting an event and seeing fellow peers I've competed with or I've known for a long time — it's always just a great feeling just to see them and be able to have a friendly competition. Because in the end, there's gonna be the competitors that you don't know that you want to win against, and you want to win against your friends as well. But some people are just like, 'Oh, it's great to see you. Let's have fun out there.' So I'm really excited to compete not only against my friends, but also with Hal for the first time."

In terms of the competition, iiTzTimmy acknowledged the skills of Brody "Xynew" Geissier and Israel "Koyful" Lawrence. To him, both of these players are smart and super mechanical.

"I think they're the duo that essentially everyone's talking about right now, so seeing how they perform and do this tournament and seeing if we can essentially stop them and play better than them — is very exciting," he said. "There's a lot of duos here that are built from the previous teams, [so] I'm just excited just to compete. We don't have a lot of duos tournaments, so it is kind of nice to see how it'll play out."

iiTzTimmy on making his parents proud

While talking about the loot from Red Bull Legends Inn, iiTzTimmy showed excitement about taking some items home to show his parents. He also shared with esports.gg that he hopes to make his parents — especially his father — proud.

"I would say probably my dad," iiTzTimmy said. "My dad and my mom — especially my dad because recently, he did get open heart surgery, and he always watches my games when he's at work. But more recently, because he can't leave the house, he just has nothing else to do other than watching K-dramas or just shows. He's always watching my scrims, he's always watching my tournaments, and I know he'll be watching [Red Bull Legends Inn], and I'm sure he'll be very excited to see me play with Hal because he also loves Hal."
