"This roadmap clearly reflects that we’re investing in the long-term future of the ALGS. By expanding competition, increasing prizing, and showing up in key regions around the world, we’re building an ecosystem that brings players and fans closer together, fuels deeper loyalty, and creates a stronger, more transparent competitive pathway."

Monica Dinsmore, Head of Esports at EA

ALGS Online Open

What was previously the Preseason Qualifiers will now be formally known as the ALGS Online Open. Despite the identity change, it remains a way for ambitious squads to qualify for the pro league and reach for the highest accolades in Apex Legends Esports.

Registration for the Online Open is now up. The first of four open qualifier weekends on Feb. 28 marks the start of ALGS Year 6.

Legend Bans

Legend Bans will be expanded to the Challenger Circuit in a move to align features across the competitive landscape.

Transfer windows and match requirements

There are also some changes headed the players' and organizations' way. Each Pro League split for ALGS Year 6 will now have a single official roster transfer window. Transfers will not be allowed outside of this window.

According to EA, this is to "promote greater roster stability, and reduce mid-season disruptions" with the added benefit of having more solid team identities and clearer storylines.

For ALGS Year 6, players will now have to compete for a minimum of 12 Pro League matches with a team for their Championship Points to count toward the team's total. The same restriction will apply to LAN events. These changes are made to uphold competitive integrity.

ALGS Year 5 concluded with the Championship event in Sapporo, Japan. ALGS Year 6 begins on Feb. 28, 2026, with the Online Open.
