The ALGS 2026 Championship made esports history with a sold-out Championship Sunday and the largest attendance the series has ever seen.

The Apex Legends Global Series 2026 Championship (ALGS 2026 Championship) has made history in Sapporo, Japan, selling out its Championship Sunday tickets and welcoming the largest crowd the series has ever seen.

ALGS 2026 Championship breaks record with over 38,000 fans

According to esports.gg's sources at Electronic Arts (EA) in Sapporo, Japan, the ALGS 2026 Championship has outpaced last year's ticket sales with more than 14,000 sold for the Finals Stage and more than 38,000 for the full event.

This breaks records since last year's ALGS Year 4 Championship drew over 34,000 attendees in the same city. EA also initially expected the current ALGS Year 5 Championship to only draw more than 30,000 fans to the Daiwa House Premist Dome from Jan. 15 to Jan. 18.

ALGS Year 5 Championship draws major crowd

On social media, EA celebrated this milestone and thanked the fans of Apex Legends esports. EA also confirmed that this is the largest crowd that ALGS has ever seen.

"Tickets are officially sold out for Championship Sunday, and we could not be more thankful," the post stated. "We love you, Sapporo."

ALGS 2026 Championship viewership

The ALGS 2026 Championship began on Jan. 15 with the top 40 Apex Legends esports teams duking it out for a share of the $2,000,000 USD prize pool. According to Esports Charts, the event's kickoff achieved an average viewership of 134,263, increasing by 5.52% compared to last year.

At the time of publishing, this year's overall event reached 217,177 peak viewers as well. Other ALGS 2026 Championship viewership statistics to note include 4,094,203 hours watched and an average of 141,180 viewers with just 29 hours of airtime so far.

Having already broken the record for in-person attendance, the ALGS 2026 Championship may also set new milestones in online viewership. Championship Sunday begins on Jan. 18 with only 20 teams left.
