Mega Camerupt Pokémon GO raid guide: Hundo CP, weakness, and counters

With the Eruption Pokémon getting its Mega form in Pokémon GO, players will surely join forces once again for its Raid Day debut on September 28, 2025. Events like Raid Days offer great opportunities for players to grind lots of Mega Energy and the chance to get a Hundo or Shiny Camerupt.

Camerupt shifts from a pure Fire-type to a Fire/Ground-type when it mega evolves. If you already have Primal Groudon, Mega Camerupt may not be the most appealing raid attacker. Still, it serves as a solid alternative, especially if you’re lacking a Fire- or Ground-type Mega to boost candy gains during Raid Days or Community Days.

For this post, we’ll give you all the details you need to combat Mega Camerupt in raids so you can select the best roster and defeat it with ease.

Despite its Ground typing, Mega Camerupt is also weak to Ground. However, with its Fire/Ground typing, it takes the most damage from Water-type attacks.

Most of Mega Camerupt’s Fast Attacks and Charged Moves are Ground and Fire types. It can also dish out a couple of moves from other types, namely Rock Smash (Fighting) and Solar Beam (Grass).

Based on Mega Camerupt’s type weaknesses and available moves, we want a Pokémon that can deal high damage using Water-type moves and absorb less damage from Ground- and Fire-type moves.

Water-type attackers will be the MVPs for Mega Camerupt raids. Although Mega Camerupt can bring some pain with Solar Beam, it receives much more damage with Hydro moves and Primal Kyogre’s Origin Pulse.

Be mindful of using Mega Gyarados if Mega Camerupt can perform Rock Smash as its Fast Attack. Other than that, this raid boss should be easy like the Mega Swampert raids if you keep on spamming Water-type moves against it.

Yes! Shiny Mega Camerupt is obtainable in Pokémon GO. After a Mega Camerupt Raid, there’s a chance you’ll encounter a Shiny Camerupt having gray-colored fur instead of orange.

The more Numel Candy you get, the easier it is to power up a Mega Camerupt. Here’s a list of Pokémon that you can mega evolve so you can activate the extra Candy bonus during Camerupt encounters:

Swampert and Garchomp are the best choices here, as you can also use them against Mega Camerupt. However, while a Mega Swampert can deal more damage, it can get demolished easily with Solar Beam, so we recommend the more stable Mega Garchomp instead.

As a dual-type Pokémon whose types are both weak to Water, it’s actually possible to solo a Mega Camerupt as long as your team is filled with tough Water-type attackers like Kyogre, Gyarados, or Blastoise.

But if you want to finish Mega Camerupt raids much faster, you might need at least another Trainer with a strong Water-type team.

Like any other Mega Raid, you’ll encounter a Mega Pokémon’s base form once you win the battle against it. If you catch a Camerupt after a raid, the hundo CP would be 1253 CP or 1566 CP during Clear/Sunny weather.
