There are a few ways to obtain some Mega Energy in the game. These include defeating a Mega-Evolved Pokémon in Mega Raid Battles and completing specific tasks. There's also the option to walk around with your in-game Buddy, but just make sure that you've previously completed a Mega Evolution in your Buddy's evolutionary line.
How does Mega Energy work?
Players should note that specific Mega Energy can only be used on specific Pokémon. For example, if you would like to have a Mega Charizard on your team, then the type of Mega Energy listed on the Charizard's summary page must be used to obtain the Mega Evolution.
"Once you have Mega-Evolved a Pokémon, you can evolve it without Mega Energy following a resting period that may last up to several days," according to Niantic.
