Struggling to find lumber in Pokémon Pokopia? Read this guide!

Lumber is one of the most valuable resources in Pokémon Pokopia. This type of wood allows you to craft various furniture, building pieces, and other items in the game, so you’ll need lots of it to restore the Withered Wasteland back to its livable state.

Fortunately, searching for lumber won’t be as hard as making habitats. As long as you know where to find some and how you can craft it, you can have an almost unlimited amount of lumber in your inventory.

Here are the best ways to acquire lumber in Pokémon Pokopia, regardless of which point of the game you are at right now.

Key highlights

  • You can get lumber in Pokémon Pokopia by collecting some in uninhabited areas with traces of wooden structures or by getting small logs and converting them into lumber by a Pokémon with the Chop Specialty.
  • Dream Islands are the best places to farm small logs, which, in turn, gives you the opportunity to farm lumber.

Ways to get Lumber in Pokémon Pokopia

Method 1: Gathering lumber in Pokopia’s uninhabited areas

Like sticks and rocks, you can also collect lumber in some uninhabited areas, particularly around the Withered Wasteland (the game’s starting region). Ideally, you should look for places with traces of human civilizations, such as wooden structures, fencing, tables, and chairs.

In the open world, lumber appears as three broken pieces of wood, as shown in the image below.

Method 2: Collecting small logs and converting them into lumber

The fastest method for farming lumber in Pokémon Pokopia is by gathering a bunch of small logs and asking the help of a Pokémon with the Chop Specialty to turn them into lumber.

Small logs are significantly more accessible in the open world than lumber, so you should not have any trouble finding them. You can get some small logs from the worn lumber scattered almost everywhere, or use the move Cut to chop down trees.

Tip: Use Water Gun on a tree first before chopping it down. A watered tree yields a greater number of small logs than a dried one.

The most efficient way to get hundreds of small logs is by going to Dream Island. You can only reach the Dream Islands by registering a Drifloon. If you give a doll to your Drifloon friend, they can take you to a Dream Island packed with resources, including dozens of trees that you can chop down for small logs and seeds.

But here’s the catch: you can only visit Dream Island once a day, so try to maximize the number of trees that you can chop while you’re still there.

If you think you have enough small logs, you can then show them to a Pokémon with the Chop Specialty so they convert the logs into lumber. The process can take time depending on the number of small logs you submitted, so you can do something else while waiting for the Chop Pokémon to finish their task.

The Chop Pokémon will eventually approach you with a speech balloon, informing you that your lumber is ready.

Here is a list of Pokémon with the Chop Ability in Pokémon Pokopia. Many of these Chop Pokémon spawn in the tree-shaded tall grass habitat, which is only made by setting up four tall grasses around a tree:
