Overwatch Season 4 is here and with it comes a new Support Hero in the mix. Where does Lifeweaver land? Let’s take a look.

Overwatch Season 4 is here and with it comes a massive upheavel to the meta--thanks in part to the Supports class. Honestly, it doesn't feel like an exaggeration to say that this new patch is the biggest shakeup to the status quo of Overwatch since launch. A new Hero in Lifeweaver, a massive, meta-twisting buff to Brig, and more lead to a fascinating new season.

Let's take a look at the Overwatch 2 Season 4 supports and where they land on the ranking of fighters.

Overwatch Season 4 supports tier-list

This break down of the best Overwatch 2 Season 4 supports is based on a few metrics. This includes an overall decision on what Hero is the best in any overall situation, as well as what best fits in the meta as of May 2023. While everyone may not agree on these choices, it should at least help players make their own decisions on what works best in the current metagame.

This list will be updated upon the midseason patch.

S+ tier supports

Not much has changed at the top, and for good reason. The best Support Heroes are still the ones that provide the biggest potential for playmaking and utility. A great Support shores up the biggest weaknesses of your Tank while amplifying the DPS and their ability to get eliminations. The biggest change to the list is the swapping of Mercy for Moira. The oft-frontlining TALON member received yet another buff in the Season 4 patch and at this point it's impossible to deny Moira's strength.

We don't have to like it, but her ability to heal and damage in equal and impressive numbers is undeniable.

ANA

Best situations: Long-range healing, hard-countering tanks, backline support
Countered by: Cleanse, Tracer, another Ana
Pairs well with: Dva, Junker Queen, Genji, Reaper

KIRIKO

Best situations: Roadhog, Junker Queen, ranged damage
Countered by: Being isolated, snipers
Pairs well with: Everybody

MOIRA

Best situations: Countering Tracer, Genji; Big healing numbers while also dealing damage
Countered by: Ana, Sombra, the Player controlling Moira that's trying to frontline
Pairs well with: Shield tanks

BAPTISTE

Best situations: Death ball, paired with hitscans, countering flyers
Countered by: Snipers, Ana, Junker Queen
Pairs well with: Brawling compositions

A-tier supports

Mercy drops down a level in our tier list, thanks in part to the change in ability to heal critical allies. However, she certainly hasn't lost overall healing power. Likewise, we see Brig jump up to her highest point since the removal of her stun at the end of Overwatch 1. Brig's Rally is certainly one of the most impactful Ultimates in the game, providing a direct counter to enemy Ults from Genji, Ramattra, Moira, and more.

Zenyatta hangs around this tier because he's incredibly vulnerable against dive--especially Sombra. However, the value of Discord Orb is still undeniable. Of the Overwatch 2 Season 4 Supports, Zen is also one of the highest damaging.

ZENYATTA

Best situations: Finishing snipers and increasing damage on tanks like Orisa, Roadhog
Countered by: Wrecking Ball, Reaper, Sombra, Junkrat/Dva Ultimates
Pairs well with: Flyers, dive Heroes, wandering teammates

LUCIO

Best situations: Dive, death ball, dealing with snipers/turrets
Countered by: Junker Queen, Cassidy, Bastion
Pairs well with: Slow Heroes, Doomfist

MERCY

Best situations: Flying and Dive comps, pocketing a beefy tank like D.Va
Countered by: Mei, Reaper, a good sniper
Pairs well with: Hitscan, Reinhardt, D.Va

Overwatch Season 4 supports, B-tier

Well, that excepted Lifeweaver adjustment buff came and... Well, he's better? I certainly don't think that Wifeleaver is unplayable, but he still requires a lot of work to both stay alive and put out healing numbers. His biggest downside compared to other supports is his sheer lack of burst healing. It's pretty common to watch a critical healing target die while charging up a heal. Related, Tree of Life really isn't a "Oh no, everyone is critical" kind of Ultimate. It's a great ability, but not enough to make him viable just yet.

LIFEWEAVER

Best situations: Saving tanks, setting up hitscan, healing hard-to-reach Heroes
Countered by: Dive, Sombra, teammates not using his mechanics
Pairs well with: Widowmaker, Doomfist, Reinhardt, Kiriko
