Star Rail Passes are what Honkai Star Rail is all about. But how do we get more? We’ve got a few tricks for you to get those bonus Warps.
Star Rail Passes are a vital mechanic to the Honkai: Star Rail. They play a huge part in the latest MiYoHo adventure that takes place across the stars. So how to do we get more of them and how do they work?
Star Passes and Special Star Passes are the currency used in Honkai: Star Rail for players to use the Warp mechanic in-game. Here's a breakdown of exactly what these passes do and how to get them.
What do Star Rail Passes do?
Star Rail Passes are a digital ticket that are used to roll Honkai Star Rail's gacha game mechanic. It's similar to a loot box that provides players with a random drop. Currently Star Rail Passes can drop either Light Cones or characters.
There are currently two types of Passes in Honkai Star Rail:
- Star Rail Pass - Used on the Stellar Warp or Departure Warp
- Special Star Rail Pass - Used on the Light Cone or Character Event Warps
What are my chances of getting a 4-Star or 5-Star drop?
MiHoYo is quite transparent with the odds of winning every time you make a Warp. Each Event Warp has a selection of featured characters or Light Cones. However, your chances of unlocking a 4-Star or 5-Star entity are fixed.
- You have a 0.6% chance of getting a 5-Star Entity (Character/Light Cone)
- You have a 5.1% chance of getting a 4-Star entity (Character/Light Cone)
Imagine you've seen the 5-Star character you want on the Honkai Star Rail next banner, and you're determined to get them. If you keep rolling and keep being unlucky, Honkai Star Rail will at a certain point improve your chances until it's a dead certainty. This increase is called Pity, and there is Soft and hard Pity.
What is Pity in Honkai Star Rail?
Pity is a common mechanic in Gacha games such as Honkai Star Rail, and essentially ensures that after a certain number of Warps your odds of getting that 5-star character or Light Cone increase until after 90 Warps its 100% certain.
Your base chance of pulling a 5-star is 0.6%. For the first 75 Warps your base chance remains 0.6%, meaning you may or may not get lucky. Between your 75th to 90th Warp without that star prize however, the game will begin giving you Soft Pity, which increases that 0.6% chance every time you Warp.
After 90 Warps if you still have not pulled that 5-star drop, Hard Pity will kick in and boost that chance to 100%.
Star Rail Pass reward guarantees
The rewards you get in the Warps are random, but not completely random. In order for you to not feel cheated and get that sense of excitement, you are guaranteed a 4-star and 5-star entities (Characters or Light Cones) after a certain number of Warps. This is the result of the Pity system (explained above).
- Every 10 Warps you are guaranteed a 4-star or above Character or Light Cone
- Every 90 Warps you are guaranteed at least one 5-star Character or Light Cone
- Bonus: After 300 Warps with a Star Rail Pass you are guaranteed a 5-star Character of your choice
For details on what character you will be able to pick from after 300 Warps, check out our guide on how to get a free 5-star character. Be aware the 300 Warps perk only applies to Warps made with the "regular" Star Rail Pass.
