Fortunately, a Stiff Arm is very simple to pull off, and you're even given a prompt on the screen for the most optimal time to use the mechanic. To perform a Stiff Arm, follow the steps below:
- The Stiff Arm can be used with any ball carrier, whether you're using an offensive player to run with the ball, a defensive player who has the ball off a turnover, or on special teams during a punt/kick return
- When you're running with the ball carrier, approach a defender and try to maneuver the ball carrier so that they're on either side of the defender's body
- After you're close enough to the defender, you need to press and hold X (PS5)/ A (Xbox)
- You'll see a prompt appear on the screen to perform a Stiff Arm if you have those settings enabled in CFB 26
- As long as you're not facing the defender head on and you're slightly to the side of them, you'll pull off a Stiff Arm
- Whether the Stiff Arm succeeds in getting a defender away from the ball carrier depends on the strength attributes of your ball carrier and the strength attributes of the defender you're Stiff Arming
- Even if the Stiff Arm doesn't fully succeed, though, it will usually allow you to push forward for a couple of extra yards, so it's almost always worth trying

The number one thing to remember with a Stiff Arm is that you have to be in the right situation for it. If you try to Stiff Arm a defender too early or too late, it won't work. It also won't work if your ball carrier hits a defender head on, as they need to be to the side so your player can outstretch one of their arms.As long as you understand all of that and practice a little bit using the Stiff Arm in CFB 26, you'll master the mechanic in no time.
