How to mine Gold Veins in Fortnite

Fortnite's newest season, Chapter 6, Season 2, has been out for a few weeks now. With new weapons, mechanics and more, players have been exploring the island trying to find all its secrets. One of these new features is Gold Veins, which players can mine in Fortnite.

Here is how to mine Gold Veins in Fortnite and what they do.

Luckily, mining Gold Veins in the new Fortnite season is incredibly easy. These giant rocks can be found in the newest region of the map towards the western side, where the three new locations, Outlaw Oasis, Shiny Shafts and Crime City are.

You can also find Gold Vein rocks inside little caves scattered along this map area.

These rocks look like smaller rocks than normal, but with gold busting out of them, hence the name, "Gold Veins." However, regular rocks in this area will have gold streaks across them. Do not mix these up with Gold Veins, as you will not get anything extra from them.

Once you find a Gold Vein rock, all you need to do is hit it with your pickaxe multiple times until it is destroyed and you will be awarded a plethora of gold.

Gold Veins are a great way to get rich fast on the island of Fortnite, awarding players with gold bars every time they destroy one. This is not the only plus that comes with mining Gold Veins in the new Fortnite season, though, as players will also be granted the new Gold Rush effect.

So, what exactly is the Gold Rush effect in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2? And do you get it just from mining Gold Veins?

Gold Rush is the newest effect that players can get in Fortnite when doing things like ming Gold Veins or jumping in the river that runs between Outlaw Oasis, Shiny Shafts and Crime City.

The effect only lasts for a short period and grants players faster sprinting speed, faster pickaxe speed and more damage dealt with their pickaxe. This means players can get around the map faster while also mining different materials quicker than normal.

And who knows, you may stumble across another Gold Vein, letting you continue the Gold Rush effect for longer while also obtaining more gold to spend on weapons and items.

Fortnite just added a new update (March 11, 2025) that features various new weapons, such as the Rocket Drill, which shoots players through the area and drills through anything in its path.

The game also added a brand-new double barely shotgun called the Outlaw Shotgun. This heavy hitter plays well against opponents. That is if you can hit your headshots.

The game also added the brand-new Pump-and-Dump Shotgun, which lets players carry an SMG in one hand and a Shotgun in the other. Quickly pump your opponent with the shotgun, then finish them off by spraying them with your SMG.
