Learn how to obtain and use your currencies.

MultiVersus offers a rather complex economic system compared to other games, with four currencies, each serving a different purpose.

On top of that, the MultiVersus developers also tweaked the currency system to prepare for the full launch on May 28, based on community feedback from the open beta phase between 2022 and 2023.

If you're looking to delve into MultiVersus, this is everything you need to know about the currencies, including how to obtain them and what are they for.

What is the Fighter currency and how to obtain it?

Fighter exclusively serves to unlock new characters in MultiVersus and is obtainable in-game through Events, Rifts Mode gameplay, Battle Pass, account mastery, or character mastery.

Fighter was created to effectively replace character tokens, which have been discontinued. If you do have a character token on your inventory, however, the game will allow you to spend it.

What is the Perk currency and how to obtain it?

Players can spend Perk to unlock in-game Perks in MultiVersus. Just like Fighter, this currency is obtainable through Events, Rifts Mode gameplay, Battle Pass, account mastery, or character mastery.

What is the Prestige currency and how to obtain it?

Prestige is also a new currency in MultiVersus and serves to unlock exclusive Prestige Cosmetics. Unlike Fighter and Perk, the only way to obtain Prestige in MultiVersus is to acquire cosmetics. Here's how this new currency will work:

"Each cosmetic item you acquire awards its own Prestige currency value based on type and rarity," Warner Bros. Games said. "Eventually, you’ll use your Prestige currency to unlock Prestige cosmetics, which represent the rarest cosmetics in the game. These items can only be unlocked using Prestige currency."

When MultiVersus launches on May 28, all returning players will receive Prestige based on the number of cosmetics acquired during open beta as a reward.

What is the Gleamium currency and how to obtain it?

Gleamium is the Premium currency in MultiVersus and it serves to unlock cosmetics, emotes, Battle Pass, and more. Players can obtain Gleamium if they purchase it directly, complete Battle Pass tiers —free or paid — or participate in events.

In case you acquire MultiVersus' first premium Battle Pass, you can earn enough Gleamium to get the next premium Battle Pass for free.

What happened to the Gold currency in MultiVersus?

Even though Gold existed in MultiVersus throughout the open beta, the developers removed it from the game for the full launch.

If you had Gold in your inventory, however, fear not. The developers will provide you with "commemorative cosmetics" that correlate to the amount of Gold earned during the open beta.

MultiVersus is releasing for PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on May 28.
