How to clear the Chaos Forest Abyss Gate in Crimson Desert

The Abyss Gate in the Chaos Forest is one of the trickier puzzles you’ll come across during the early game of Crimson Desert. You have to deal with prickly red vines, Abyss Cells, multiple power sources, and a doorway that just doesn’t want to stay open.

Steps to solve the Chaos Forest Abyss Gate in Crimson Desert

First off, to even reach the Chaos Forest Abyss Gate, you’ll have to enter and ascend the Spire of Insight. We covered how to solve all of the riddles inside the spire, so check out that guide if you need help actually reaching the Chaos Forest.

For those of you already inside the Abyss Gate, let’s go over exactly what you’ll need to do to conquer it. You’ll find every step laid out in chronological order below:

• To start, you need to clear the red vines that are covering a majority of the surface in the starting area. To do this, you need to use the Concentrated Light ability. This is done by holding LB/L1 + RB/R1 and then pressing LB/L1 again. With your light beam focused, aim your sword at the vines, and you’ll see the pricks disappear. Keep holding the aim at the vines, and they’ll eventually catch on fire and spread to the other vines.

• Once the entire area has been cleared of the vines, drop down to the lower level and jump across to the platform that’s burning. Here, you’ll find an Abyss Cell that you can pick up using Axiom Force, which is done by holding LS/L3. While holding the Abyss Cell, throw it over to the area you just came from and then climb back up the rocks.

• Take hold of the Abyss Cell again and head straight to find a pool of water. Submerge the Abyss Cell inside the water to get rid of the fire that’s on it.

• Now, turn completely around and take the Abyss Cell to the empty cell slot. Get the cell roughly into place in the slot and then release it. Climb on top of the cell and use your Force Palm ability while on top of it to jam the cell into place. If successful, you’ll see the cell light up blue like the one directly next to it.

• With that done, hop on the large tree roots right across the gap from the Abyss Cells and climb them up to the next level of the building in front of you. Enter the small room on your left and burn the red vines that are covering the wall.

• You also want to burn the red vines across the gap on your left. Once they are burned as well, jump over to that side and then use Nature’s Grasp to enter a small room with another Abyss Cell.

• Use Axiom Force and Force Palm to jam the Abyss Cell into its rightful place on the wall. You can carry and use the Abyss Fragment on the ground as a ladder of sorts to use Force Palm in the middle of the cell.

• When the cell is in place, pick up the Abyss Fragment and walk it over to the doorway that you came in from. You’ll notice that your Nature’s Grasp didn’t hold and the doorway is sealed again. Open the doorway again using Nature’s Grasp and then quickly pick up the Abyss Fragment. Place it down right beneath the open doorway so that it stops the door from shutting completely.

• This charges up the second power source for the large, central wheel. Crouch and head back outside. You’ll now need to climb on the large wheel and get to the center of it. While clinging on in the center, use Force Palm on the wheel. This knocks you back, so be prepared to use your Flight ability to land safely on a platform. If you fall off and start skydiving, you can reload a save and it will take you back to the Abyss Gate.

• Your final step is to use the stairs to the right of the large wheel to get on the platform above it. You can collect an Abyss Artifact for completing the Abyss Gate and then head over to the Sky Bridge arch. Enter through the Sky Bridge arch, use Axiom Force on the pillar, and take part in some parkour to connect the bridge to other parts of the Abyss.
