Counter-Strike 2 System Requirements

Wondering whether your PC will be able to run Counter Strike 2? Here’s everything we know about the Counter Strike 2 System Requirements.

As we head into the final few months of 2023, CS2 is the biggest game release. Millions of players are waiting for the brand-new game that promises a series of improvements over its predecessor. If the beta participants' reviews are anything to go by, Valve will not be disappointing its Counter-Strike fanbase. But before you jump with excitement, it's important to know if your system can handle CS2. Here are all the CS2 system requirements.

Counter-Strike 2 System Requirements

Valve hasn't shared any official details about the system requirements for the upcoming game. We have taken the liberty of coming up with some of the minimum specifications based on the improvements over CS:GO and CS:GO's existing system requirements. Here are the expected minimum requirements.

  • OS: Windows® 10
  • Processor: 4 hardware CPU threads - Intel® Core™ i5 750 or higher
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Video card must be 1 GB or more and should be a DirectX 11-compatible with support for Shader Model 5.0
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 85 GB available space

System Requirements - How important are they?

One of the main objectives of a developer is to reach as wide a player base as possible. This was one of the reasons why CS:GO never moved to 128-tick official Valve servers. But after more than a decade of CS:GO's release, we are now inching closer to CS2's impending launch. With a new game and advancements in technology, the average system specifications have seen a significant uplift compared to a decade ago. As such, it is not surprising to see higher minimum specs. Furthermore, the recommended specs should be able to boost the game's graphic performance on systems that can handle higher processing requirements and framerates.

For many players, the bigger question would be whether their existing systems can handle it. Needless to say, we expect most of the computers released in the last 7-8 years to be able to handle the minimum specs of CS2.

So despite the massive graphic overhaul and high-quality VFX, Smoke physics as well as some upgrades to CS:GO skins. Expect Counter-Strike to run on most computers from the last decade comfortably.
