System Requirements - How important are they?

One of the main objectives of a developer is to reach as wide a player base as possible. This was one of the reasons why CS:GO never moved to 128-tick official Valve servers. But after more than a decade of CS:GO's release, we are now inching closer to CS2's impending launch.

With a new game and advancements in technology, the average system specifications have seen a significant uplift compared to a decade ago. As such, it is not surprising to see higher minimum specs. Furthermore, the recommended specs should be able to boost the game's graphic performance on systems that can handle higher processing requirements and framerates.

For many players, the bigger question would be whether their existing systems can handle it. Needless to say, we expect most of the computers released in the last 7-8 years to be able to handle the minimum specs of CS2.

So despite the massive graphic overhaul and high-quality VFX, Smoke physics as well as some upgrades to CS:GO skins. Expect Counter-Strike to run on most computers from the last decade comfortably.
