The STB 556 is a super strong AR in MW2. Here’s how to build it to be the best it can be!
The STB 556 is a reworking of the AUG weapon that has featured in previous Call of Duty titles. It is now part of the Bruen Bullpup weapon tree. The STB 556 is the assault rifle, and arguably the best, version of the gun in MW2. Levelling it up will unlock LMG and SMG versions of the weapon.
Being a very quick and mobile AR, the STB 556 is a fantastic option as it can do pretty much everything you could need it to do. It's got fantastic potential at all ranges with one of the tightest hip-fire spreads of all assault rifles in MW2.
How to unlock the STB 556 in MW2 and Warzone 2
Thankfully, the STB 556 is at the base of the Bruen Bullpup platform in Modern Warfare 2. There is no need to go through unnecessary hoops levelling up other weapons in order to use it.
That being said, there is still a little bit of a grind to be had before being able to get your hands on the STB 556. You'll need to reach Level 41 in Military Rank in order to unlock the STB 556 assault rifle.
The best STB 556 loadout to use in MW2 multiplayer
If you want to be moving nice and quickly, using it more like an SMG than a traditional AR, then this pub-stomping build, which has been approved by OpTic Texas' Brandon "Dashy" Otell, is for you.
This build allows for speed and mobility. It's a far quicker build than most other ARs get. The inclusion of the VLK LZR 7MW is the turning point from stiff AR to mobile hip-fire machine.
The attachments for the loadout for the STB:
- Stock: Bruen MX9 Stock
- Ammunition: 5.56 High Velocity
- Underbarrel: XTEN Drop Grip
- Barrel: 18" Bruen Guerilla
- Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
Using the Bruen MX9 stock is important for the mobility of the weapon here. It allows players to move a lot quicker. It's worth noting that it is an attachment you unlock by levlling up the SMG-version of the gun, the MX9.
Pro loadout
The STB 556 has also been used by several pro players as they try and find the set of meta weapons that will be used in the 2023 Call of Duty League. The following build is from Minnesota Rokkr's Cameron "Cammy" McKilligan. It's build to be a more lethal at longer ranges.
Cammy's STB 556 build:
- Underbarrel: Lockgrip Precision-40
- Ammunition: 5.56 High Velocity
- Rear Grip: Bruen Q900 Grip
- Comb: FTAC C11 Riser
- Optic: Slimline Pro
Adding on the optic to the weapon alongside the FTAC C11 Riser comb allows more accurate engagement over long distances. This build is far more effective on maps where you will have to get into those longer-range gunfights. Maps such as Taraq and El Asilo are where to get the best out of it.
Although it could do a job on pretty much any map, just like the other versions of this gun.
