The Sturmwolf 45 is a new SMG in Black Ops 7, but how is it unlocked?
Season 1 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone isn't done delivering content to the community. There are two weapons set to arrive in the Season 1 Reloaded update, with one of them being the beloved Ballista sniper rifle. However, the other is the Sturmwolf 45 submachine gun, which looks very similar to the classic UMP-45.
Not much else is known about the Sturmwolf 45 in Black Ops 7, but we do have a good idea about how you can unlock this SMG in Season 1.
Unlocking the Sturmwolf 45 SMG in Black Ops 7 and Warzone
Currently, the Season 1 Reloaded update is a week or two away, and Activision has yet to confirm a majority of what the update will entail. This includes the exact unlock method for the Ballista and the Sturmwolf 45.
While we don't know all of the details about how to unlock the Sturmwolf 45, we have a good idea. The Sturmwolf 45 will be unlocked through an in-game event in Black Ops 7 after Season 1 Reloaded is released.
This in-game event hasn't been confirmed yet, though, so it's unclear how the SMG will be unlocked once the event goes live. Going by previous events, however, players will be able to earn the Sturmwolf 45 by completing a set of individual challenges in an event, or the entire community will work together to complete a certain challenge.
The latter method would look very similar to how the NX Ravager crossbow was recently unlocked in Black Ops 7. The crossbow was unlocked for all players once the community challenge was completed, which took roughly a week during the Naughty and Nice event in December 2025.
So, if the Sturmwolf 45 is unlocked through a community challenge, you can expect it to take several days before you'll be able to equip it in Black Ops 7. However, if the SMG is unlocked through individual challenges, then you should be able to earn it in a couple of hours of playtime, at the most.
We should hear more details about Season 1 Reloaded in Black Ops 7 and Warzone in early January.
