The beta is coming in Black Ops 7, and here’s how and when you can play.

We just saw the worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at Gamescom, and now players are itching to get their hands on the multiplayer. Treyarch and Activision showcased some of the content fans can expect in multiplayer, but there's nothing like getting a first-hand experience to see everything for yourself. Fortunately, players don't have to wait long to play Black Ops 7, as the multiplayer beta is just around the corner.

The multiplayer beta will take place over the course of two weekends and allow players to experience a small portion of the content that's coming with the full launch in November. Below, you can find everything you need to know about the Black Ops 7 beta, including how to play and the dates for the beta weekends.

How to play the Black Ops 7 multiplayer beta

First and foremost, let's cover how you can gain access to the beta. Luckily, the beta is available for all players who have a compatible system. Black Ops 7 is coming to PC, PS4 + PS5, and Xbox One/Series X|S, so if you could play any of the previous Call of Duty titles, you can play the beta.

If you're itching to play Black Ops 7 a little early, though, you can play during the early access beta, which takes place a few days before the open beta that's available for everyone. You can play the early access beta in a couple of different ways, but the simplest way is to pre-order Black Ops 7. Pre-ordering any edition of Black Ops 7 will grant you access to the early beta, and we covered all of the editions in more depth in a recent guide.

Once you place your pre-order, which can be done digitally or with a marketplace/store, you'll receive a beta code. This beta code can then be entered on Activision's website, where you'll specify your platform and account. From there, you'll receive a separate code through your email closer to when the beta begins that allows you to access the beta as soon as it begins in Black Ops 7.

If you don't want to pre-order, you can also subscribe to Xbox Game Pass and still receive early access to the beta. As long as you're an active subscriber to any Game Pass plan, you'll be able to play the beta early.

So, to quickly break it down, any player can download and play the beta. However, players who pre-orders Black Ops 7 or subscribes to Game Pass will be able to play a few days before the open beta starts.

When does the Black Ops 7 closed and open beta begin?

Now that you understand a little bit more about the beta, when can you actually start playing? As we mentioned before, there are two weekends of the beta and an early access portion that begins before the open portion.

Below, you can see all the dates for Black Ops 7 beta:

  • Early Access Beta begins on Oct. 2
  • Open Beta begins on Oct. 5
  • Second Beta Weekend begins on Oct. 9
  • Black Ops 7 Beta ends on Oct. 13

As you can see, the early access beta starts three days prior to the open beta, which gives you plenty of additional time to familiarize yourself with all of the new content in Black Ops 7 multiplayer.
