The M16 has been one of the strongest weapons in Warzone since it was introduced in Black Ops Cold War. This tactical rifle is a heavy hitter with impressive range and low recoil – if you use the best loadout, that is.
There are few guns as timeless in the Call of Duty community than the M16. It's one of the most highly favoured weapons in the franchise's expansive history, and many players adore it. These days, Black Ops Cold War's M16 is a popular choice for a tactical rifle in Warzone. But what is the best M16 loadout for Warzone?
Back in the day, the M16A4 was a massively popular assault rifle used throughout the entire Modern Warfare franchise. It was also featured in Black Ops II, but it wasn't the first pick for AR players. The M16 (stock) has been included in the arsenals for Advanced Warfare, Black Ops (I, III, and IV), and Cold War.
It's a massively versatile gun with a great TTK and remarkably stable platform. There are few engagements that you'll lose if you're carrying an M16, but of course, it all comes down to the build. If you're running the M16 in Warzone, you're using one of the best ranged weapons on the market.
But what's the best M16 loadout you can carry in Warzone?
Tactical Rifle vs. Marksman Rifle
In Call of Duty today, there are two competing weapon classes: Tactical Rifle, and Marksman Rifle. They're quite similar in what they do, but players tend to prefer just one or the other. In Modern Warfare and Call of Duty Ghosts, Marksman Rifles referred to semi-automatic rifles that weren't quite assault rifles, and weren't quite sniper rifles.
Of course, some of these became massively popular in Warzone, such as the Kar98k. In many cases, the Kar98k is considered the best sniper rifle in Warzone, without actually being a sniper rifle. It's joined by the likes of the EBR, MK2 Carbine, and SKS rifles.
In Black Ops IV and Black Ops Cold War, Tactical Rifles were introduced with great success. More recently, in Cold War, Tactical Rifles have included the DMR, AUG, and of course, the M16. These Tactical choices were often massively overpowered, ensuring high kill counts with deadly accuracy.
While Modern Warfare's Marksman Rifles were rarely seen as a popular choice, the Tactical Rifles were absolutely adored. If you're here, you're likely looking for the best M16 loadout for Warzone. Let's get into it.

Breaking Down The Best M16 Loadout for Warzone
The M16 is instantly recognisable, but you might not know the best attachments to use on it. There are a fair few to pick from, so we've broken down the loadout into the best five attachements you can use. This is, without a doubt, the best M16 loadout for Warzone.
Best attachments for M16
- Muzzle: Agency Silencer
- Barrel: 15.9" Strike Team
- Optic: Axial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip
- Ammunition: 45 Rnd
Firstly, we've attached the Agency Silencer, which both suppresses your weapon, and increases its maximum damage range. It's one of the most important attachments you can include in Warzone, as it hides you from the mini-map but still ensures your shots are slamming hard into the target.
Secondly, there's the 15.9" Strike Team barrel, which boosts overall damage and rate of fire. This is a huge point to consider for the M16, as by default, the rate of fire is fairly slow. This can lead to you losing engagements, so speeding up that rate of fire is of the utmost importance.
Next, we've clipped on the Axial Arms 3x optic. In many cases, the optic of choice comes down to personal preference, but most players will opt for the Axial Arms 3x attachment. It has a fantastic sight window and it enables you to pick out enemies from a longer range. It's easily the best optic for the M16 in Warzone.
Then, we've attached a Field Agent Foregrip, which literally reduces the recoil to absolutely nothing. It's a solid grip that provides a flawless platform for the M16, and with it equipped, you won't miss a single shot.
Finally, there's the 45 Rnd magazine attachment, which gives you much more to play with when taking on a team. Of course, the overall power of the M16 means that likely won't use even half of that ammunition, but if you do need it, it's there.
Best M16 Tactics for Warzone
The M16 is a fantastic long range weapon, and if you're at the front of the pack, you're doing it right. You'll need to keep your head on a swivel to pick out enemies before they see you, and the 3x optic helps with that. Although this M16 is stable without it, mounting will bring you absolutely unerring accuracy.
If you're not running Overkill, you'll want to stay back from close range engagements. Don't be the first person to push an interior, because the M16 could be outgunned by an MP5 or an MP7, for example. Stay back, pick off enemies as they appear, and get a good few bursts into their centre mass.
It'll only take two or three bursts from the M16 to down an enemy, and in some cases, totally kill them. And of course, keep an eye on your ammo count - each burst is three rounds, and you can burn through them quite quickly.
