The FTAC Recon is one of the strongest battle rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Here’s how to build it to be the best it can be.

The FTAC Recon can be built to be one of the most devastating weapons in MW2. It can be one of the best options for mid-to-long range gunfights, packing one of the strongest headshot multipliers in the game.

With multiple different uses, it can also be quite versatile. You can use the FTAC Recon in both semi-auto and automatic firing modes, meaning that players can adapt it to fit their own playstyle.

How to unlock the FTAC Recon

The FTAC Recon doesn't need a huge deal of effort to unlock in MW2. It is part of the M4 platform in the game, which is the first players unlock from the get-go. What makes it even better is that the FTAC Recon is the second weapon on that M4 tree.

That means that players need only level up their M4s up to Level 13 before being able to use the FTAC Recon. It makes this one of the easiest weapons to unlock in MW2.

It can be a really useful tool early in your progression through the game. If you want to feel a heavy hitting weapon early doors, then this is one of the best options.

The best FTAC Recon build in MW2

The FTAC Recon should be used to keep opponents at arm's length. If you are trying to take on a fast SMG player who is sprinting at you from five meters away, you may find life difficult. This weapon acts almost as a middle ground between an assault rifle and a marksman rifle.

In single fire, you can even get kills in one shot if accurate enough. If using the automatic fire option, ammo supplies run out very quickly but hitting shots becomes incredibly powerful.

The attachments to use on the FTAC Recon in MW2:

  • Rear Grip: Support CP90 Grip
  • Underbarrel: FSS Sharkfin 90
  • Barrel: Bull Rider 1.5"
  • Laser: Stovl DR Laser Box

You may be thinking about the fact that we've only included four attachments when there are five slots. This is due to the fact that the barrel on the weapon acts also as the muzzle too. Any other additional attachments risk taking away from vital aspects of the weapon's ability to compete.

If you were wanting to fill out all five slots the two adjustments that you can make are to add an optic of your choice. Bear in mind that it will significantly slow down the ADS speed of the gun and that the M4 iron sights are already incredibly clean and easy to use.

The only other addition you can have is using the High Velocity ammunition type. That will make your long range shots pack that extra little bit of a punch as it makes weapons pretty much hit-scan. That means that there will be no delay between you pressing your shooting trigger or key and the bullet making a connection with your enemy.

Bigger maps are definitely the places to be using the FTAC Recon. Maps such as El Asilo, Taraq and Zarqwa Hydroelectric can be really good places to use it.
