PGL Major Stockholm confirmed with live Audience at the Avicii Arena

Ticket Sales start on September 22 for the biggest prize pool in CSGO history. The Avicii Arena will also host its first event with a live audience in over 15 months.

After weeks of uncertainty, PGL has finally confirmed the next CS:GO Major will take in Stockholm, Sweden. The Stockholm Major will also feature a live audience and all players will be on site bringing the excitement of a LAN Major for CS: GO fans.

The COVID pandemic forced several events to be cancelled or postponed due to travel restrictions and safety concerns. CS: GO esports continued online, but the charisma and excitement of watching your favorite teams on LAN was simply not there. Esports has slowly limped back to normalcy with LAN events in various games, including Rainbow Six Siege, Dota 2 and CS: GO. The PGL Major will also take place on LAN and ticket sales will start soon.

Sweden relaxes COVID restrictions, PGL goes ahead with CS:GO Major

The biggest obstacle for the CS:GO Major in Sweden was the country’s COVID restrictions that would have posed a problem for players to enter the country. After weeks of lobbying and considerations, Sweden finally relaxed its COVID rules, allowing for the CS:GO Major to take place as initially planned. Valve shifted Dota 2’s The International 10 out of Sweden after failure to reach a conclusive solution with Sweden over these COVID restrictions.

When does the PGL Major start?

The PGL Stockholm Major is the only CS:GO Major of the year. It features an enhanced $2 million prize pool and will see the best CS:GO teams competing on LAN. The tournament starts on October 26 and continues till November 7. The playoffs will take place at the Avicii Arena over four days from November 4-7, 2021.

The CS:GO Major is also the first time in over 15 months that the Avicii Arena will see a live audience. The various restrictions due to COVID-19 had resulted in the lack of a live audience in the few events that took place.

IEM Fall 2021 is the final RMR event of the current season and the European segment will also take place in Stockholm. It is the last opportunity for CS:GO teams to earn their spot at the upcoming Major. Fans interested in purchasing the tickets to the Major can do so here.
