The first content update of 2023 is on its way, as Dragonflight patch 10.0.5 sets to launch later this month. Here’s what awaits players.
Fresh off the PTR and ready for human consumption, WoW Dragonflight patch 10.0.5 is set for launch on Jan 24. With the first content update of Dragonflight comes the much-anticipated Trading Post feature, a new in-game event, and more.
Let's take a look at what players can expect on patch day.
Patch 10.0.5 - Trading Post time
The Trading Post is a new shop and gameplay function that will launch on Feb. 1. In addition to offering players the chance at rare and formerly removed loot from the past, it will also bring a set of rotating quests each month that lets one and all earn its new currency. Compared to a free battle pass, the Trading Post offers players from all walks of life the chance to earn cool, new items and mounts.
In addition, some new transmog rules are coming along with the content patch. Common and Poor quality armor items will become available for transmogrification. This means you can finally make your hero of Azeroth look like the transient weirdo that lives in the deepest part of your heart.

A storm is coming
No, we don't mean that AEW star Jade Cargill is on her way to World of Warcraft when we say that a storm is coming. A new event launching with Dragonflight patch 10.0.5, the Primal Storm event will send players to the Primalist Future portal out at the Bronze Dragonflight hub in Thaldrazzus.
Starting every five hours, this event is a community-focused world quest that will bring players together for bosses, loot, and a bit of lore along the way. Completing the event grants Essence of the Storm, used for rewards such as new pets, mounts, and gear.
The first content drop of 2023 is a small one, but the Trading Post is one of the most interesting features to come along in a while. Will this be enough to tide players over until the meatier content patches coming in the spring?
