World of Warcraft’s Reven Pack was made in honor of Mats “Ibelin” Steen.

The World of Warcraft community has donated over $2 million in support of CureDuchenne. Players did this by getting the Reven Pack bundle.

World of Warcraft players support CureDuchenne with Reven Pack

CureDuchenne, a non-profit organization, received 100% of the proceeds from the digital Reven Pack bundle. This bundle was first announced back in October 2024 and went on sale until January 7, 2025.

"During the campaign, we saw a groundswell of support from all over the world as you gathered together to celebrate Mats’ life," Blizzard stated, referring to Mats "Ibelin" Steen. "Many took time to visit his in-game memorial — joining with his friends of many years in their annual run in his memory. It was a true testament to your incredible caring and compassion which has resonated throughout the world."

World of Warcraft community honors Ibelin

For context, the Reven Pack's charity pet was inspired by the Netflix documentary about Ibelin, a World of Warcraft player who had Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The documentary went into the Norwegian player's life after his online friends contacted his family following his passing. In Norwegian, "reven" means fox.

The $2 million donation will help advance research for a Duchenne muscular dystrophy cure and improve care for those affected worldwide.

Debra Miller, the founder and CEO of CureDuchenne, described the Reven Pack campaign as extraordinary. She also acknowledged how it helped with raising awareness.

"Through this partnership, thousands of families affected by Duchenne have felt seen, heard, and supported in a way that is truly remarkable," Miller said. "The World of Warcraft community has shown that gaming can be a powerful force for good, and we are deeply grateful to Blizzard, the Steen family, and to every player who joined us in honoring Mats Steen and making a real difference in the lives of those affected by Duchenne."

Holly Longdale, World of Warcraft's executive producer, also shared her thoughts about the campaign. She said that she's humbled by the kindness of the World of Warcraft community and thanked its players, the Steen family, and the CureDuchenne team.

"We invite all to continue showing their support to CureDuchenne where they can, and to continue to honor the legacy of Ibelin both in-game and out with compassion and joy," she added.
