Liquid players win WoW AWC Season 4 Grand Finals

Between May 18 and May 19, Liquid players fought battle after battle in the WoW AWC Grand Finals NA bracket. When it came down to the championship on Sunday, Liquid faced Le Pomp in the quarterfinal and went 2-3. This knocked them down to the elimination bracket, but Liquid didn't give up. Instead, the team swept WoW AWC Cup 4 champions Voidgg 3-0.

Meanwhile, since Le Pomp got defeated by The Move in the upper bracket, this pushed them to face Liquid once more in the elimination one. In the revenge match, Liquid dialed in and earned a score of 3-2. Chuck "Cdew" Dewland pulled off an impressive miracle in keeping his teammates alive. This granted everyone enough time to dish out enough damage to eliminate Le Pomp and advance to the WoW AWC Season 4 Grand Finals! Check out the nail-biting moment in the video above.

WoW AWC Season 4 Grand Finals NA results

When it came down to the final match of WoW AWC Season 4, Liquid faced The Move and earned a score of 4-2. Liquid players were not only on fire with a streak of crowd control (CC) moves such as Bash and Cyclone, but also some reliable healing thanks to Cdew. Although The Move fought back against the endless CC and pressure and secured a couple points, match point ended in Game 6 with Liquid coming out on top.

Liquid Samiyam shares team strategy

"I'm sorry if I talk a little too fast. My adrenaline is like pretty through the roof right now. I'm on top of the world, man," Samiyam said in the post-match interview. "We left the apartment and we were walking to the venue and you know, I said, '10 games, guys. We just need 10 good games' and we got it. I mean, it was a lot, but 10 wins. I'm just so happy. Honestly, I prefer it to be this way. You know, it's a lower bracket run. We had to beat every single team, and we feel like we truly deserved it."

Samiyam also talked about his strategy going into WoW AWC Season 4 Grand Finals NA, revealing how Liquid players had jotted down different playstyles and patterns of the other teams throughout the season. Doing this was especially useful in terms of blind picks.

"We had really hard matches against the teams that were the best at those comps," he said. "So we were really praying to whoever's out there because a lot of our matches were like — the blind is so important. If we don't win the blind, we can't counter with cleave. We really needed to win the blind in both series, and we did. We all agreed — if we make it to the finals, we're going to win."
