The Embers of Neltharion content update in World of Warcraft Dragonflight is now live! Read on for what to expect, some developer insights, and more!
Embers of Neltharion now live
Champions of Azeroth can now explore Zaralek Cavern that's located under the Dragon Isles. This new World of Warcraft zone features cute denizens, new quests, and public objectives. Players can swoop in with Dragonriding thanks to the Azure Span, Ohn’ahran Plains, and Thaldraszus entry points.
In an interview with esports.gg, narrative director Steve Danuser shared some behind-the-scenes insights.
"So we designed the zone in a way to feel very grand and have lots of openings, but also places that you could kind of swoop in and run some tight corners and get low to the ground," Danuser said. "And that became a way to inform the additions that we made to Dragonriding where the new ability that you can earn is that you can pick up your resource as you're near to the ground."
There's also a brand-new cinematic to check out!
World of Warcraft gets cross-faction guilds
Cross-faction guilds are now also in Embers of Neltharion. This means Horde players can invite Alliance players and vice-versa to their guilds. Members can access the cross-faction guild chat, bank, and calendar.
In the esports.gg interview, associate game director Morgan Day shared that these guilds align with the World of Warcraft team's cross-faction gameplay philosophies.
"And we are just trying to be really considerate with those changes," Day added. "And, you know, watching where we step as we make changes because we recognize the impact that that has on not just our community, but the game itself, right?"
He also acknowledged how both Horde and Alliance play a significant role in World of Warcraft.
"Even if I can play with people on the other factions just, you know, the tremendous weight that they have, even in the story, or especially in the story, is something that, you know, will never go away in World of Warcraft," he told esports.gg.
