Victor overtakes El Diablo as VCT global event kill leader

Victor has moved past his former teammate yay, into the top spot of the VCT global event kill leaderboard.

El Diablo has been dethroned. Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker sat atop the leaderboard of players with the most kills at VCT global events as VALORANT Champions 2023 began. As the event's group stage comes to a close, he concedes the record to Victor "Victor" Wong as the new VCT international kill leader.

Yay started 2023 as a member of Cloud9. After LOCK//IN, he found himself as a free agent. That led him to NA Challengers as part of Disguised. After a second round exit from his only international appearance this year, he still remained the top fragger across all global VCT events through eight days of Champions.

El Diablo is not currently on a partnered VCT roster. That gave room for other players to catch up in terms of kills. And one player in particular has taken the lead. Congratulations to Victor, yay's former teammate, on securing first place across international VCT competition.

The consistency of Victor and the core of NRG cannot be understated. From Team Envy to OpTic Gaming, and now NRG, they've been at the forefront of VALORANT. This has seen Victor and company rise to superstardom. And with yay starting Day 8 of Champions 2023 with 1653 kills, Victor has surpassed that. He ends the year with a total kill count of 1664 through all of his global VCT appearances.

It happened against Bilibili Gaming in the Decider Match of Group C. The moment is bittersweet as BLG eliminated NRG from the tournament. That means the top side of the leaderboard remains stagnant, but a pop off by anyone else in the Top 10 during the playoff stage could certainly shake things up.
