Paper Rex finally got to show off its secret weapon, with something stepping up big in his first international VALORANT series.
llya "something" Petrov was many VALORANT analysts' highest rated player after the international leagues ended. He ran through the opposition, cementing himself as one of the best Duelists in the game. That saw his team, Paper Rex, earn their spot at Masters Tokyo and Champions 2023 after taking first place in the Pacific League.
Unfortunately, visa issues prevented him from attending the only Masters event of the year. PRX subbed in Patiphan "CGRS" Posr, who performed incredibly and helped them to third place. So, what could this team do on the international stage with something available? He made it to LA for Champions and didn't miss a beat in his debut.

At least he's here now. And in arguably the most anticipated international debut in VALORANT history, something and Paper Rex took a 2-0 victory over KRÜ Esports. The star Duelist showed no nerves as he and his team made quick work of the VCT Americas LCQ winners.
He slotted into his signature role on Jett across Split and Pearl. Paired with Jinggg, the two rocked the double Duelist comp and made it look easy. With a final KDA of 34/27/8 and an ACS of 235, it's safe to say something's arrival on the international VALORANT stage is exactly what we expected.
Paper Rex have advanced in their group to the Winner's Match. One more victory and they'll be right into the playoff bracket. That's when something will truly be tested against the best teams and players competitive VALORANT has to offer.
